Apparently this functionality was lost in SolidWorks 2015.
If you or one of your engineers has a SolidWorks login you should be able to

This is kind of a kluge and I haven't had time to test it but it might work. I
suggest making a copy of your doc first.
1. Find an instance of the string (I'll use abcd for this sample) in a
paragraph that you want to change.
2. Assuming the paragraph tag has unique font properties, copy abcd
ignore *other* instances of the string.

is there some wort of workaround. This really stinks.
Thank you for any help you can give me.

This should be simple using plain old search/replace. Modify the first instance
of the phrase to use the new paragraph tag, and then copy that phrase. Search
for the phrase and change by pasting. Use the pull-down to see the "By pasting"
option for changing. And, use Change All to make this
Hello Framers,
I want to change all instances of a phrase using one paragraph tag to
another tag. I do not want to change all instances of the phrase (it occurs
using other tags), nor replace the current tag with the new tag (both tags
remain in use). The target phrase-tag combo occurs hundreds
