[Framers] Frame 2017 Export to Word

2017-12-19 Thread A Craig
Maybe I've imaged it, but I seem to remember threads re: exporting Frame
2017 to Word? (I'm still on Frame 12)

Is this possible? Does it result in a usable doc (ie, is the formatting
decent?)

I was at a job interview today and it sounds like they could really use the
Conditional aspects of Frame in order to deliver various flavours of the
same manuals. However, they have done without a tech writer for a while and
like the fact that their engineers can simply go into a Word doc and make
changes themselves.

I thought they might try exporting to Word so the engineers could (with
Track Changes on) make edits in Word. Then the new tech writer - preferably
me ;-))) - could incorporate those changes into the Frame docs.

Re: [Framers] Reverse engineer Robohelp in to Framemaker?

2017-12-19 Thread Robert Lauriston
Have you linked FrameMaker projects to RoboHelp before? If not, and
FrameMaker's subset of RoboHelp features don't do the trick for you,
my cheat sheet might help make up for Adobe's weak documentation on
the subject.

[Framers] Reverse engineer Robohelp in to Framemaker?

2017-12-19 Thread Rob Wallis
Just be aware that the current version of FM only does a cut down version
of CHM if you were hoping to use that as your output mechanism. A lot of
the window options are hard coded in FM and cannot be changed. There's
currently an 'enhancement' request raised to make FM read the config files,
if not add it to the FM GUI.
