Re: [Framers] Batch Word Conversion
Do not be surprised if you have to make multiple attempts to create a stable conversion document mapping Word styles to FM elements. We ended up at Version 34. One technique I used was to change all text in the Word doc to green before converting. Any text that didn't convert to something in FM stayed green allowing me to focus on Styles that didn't get mapped properly. This only really works if the Word docs are consistently Styled. Jeff C - no longer working in FM, but ugh, Word instead + "As of FrameMaker 2015, FM can map Word styles to FrameMaker tags. They don't even have to have the same names. It'll at least do the initial work." ___ This message is from the Framers mailing list Send messages to framers@lists.frameusers.com Visit the list's homepage at http://www.frameusers.com Archives located at http://www.mail-archive.com/framers%40lists.frameusers.com/ Subscribe and unsubscribe at http://lists.frameusers.com/listinfo.cgi/framers-frameusers.com Send administrative questions to listad...@frameusers.com
[Framers] XML Export Graphics
Using FM 2017, unstructured, embedded PDF graphics. What happens to the graphic files upon export to XML? Are they exported as embedded format? Where? We must export to XML per contract, but we haven't done it yet. Re: [Framers] Word to Frame Again
I created a couple if macros to help create the conversion file setup. Delete all unused Styles in Word. Then changed all text to green. Converted text would change, unconverted text arrives in FM green. Easier to find what didn't convert. Jeff ... However, it was suggested to convert the files to doc format before import to Frame. Re: [Framers] Frame alone or Adobe too?
PDF to Word works, mostly. I was surprised the conversion of a 57MB PDF file successfully converted to Word. Graphics get scrambled however, so give a warning. I have a few SMEs who want a Word version to mark up. Ugh. I get comments about how bad the graphics are all the time... Jeff ++ Major limitation, you can't save a whole book to RTF, only an individual .fm file. ___ This message is from the Framers mailing list Send messages to framers@lists.frameusers.com Visit the list's homepage at http://www.frameusers.com Archives located at http://www.mail-archive.com/framers%40lists.frameusers.com/ Subscribe and unsubscribe at http://lists.frameusers.com/listinfo.cgi/framers-frameusers.com Send administrative questions to listad...@frameusers.com
Re: [Framers] PDF Images are Pixelated when imported into FM11
We noticed this years ago, and our solution was to include two images in the file, one for online viewing, and one for print. We included a jpg (I think) for online FM viewing, and a PDF for print and PDF production. When the image embedded in the resulting pdf is zoomed, the resolution is excellent, not so with at jpg. Jeff == Hi, guys...when I import PDFs into my FM 11 document, the image that I see is often pixelated. ___ This message is from the Framers mailing list Send messages to framers@lists.frameusers.com Visit the list's homepage at http://www.frameusers.com Archives located at http://www.mail-archive.com/framers%40lists.frameusers.com/ Subscribe and unsubscribe at http://lists.frameusers.com/listinfo.cgi/framers-frameusers.com Send administrative questions to listad...@frameusers.com
