RE: Scrolling pages issue
Au contraire. I don't believe the performance issues have anything to with either the JPEG image format or color rendering. I've been suffering with the same symptoms for eons and the only image formats I am linking to are either grayscale PDFs or grayscale TIFFs. If possible, we avoid using the JPEG format entirely for print production. I have tried LZW vs. non-LZW compression on TIFF images, but that does not appear to have an impact. One thing I have not done is to test whether embedding vs. linking improves the page-to-page rendering performance. Of course, embedding all images is NOT a viable solution. -Dan From: framers-boun...@lists.frameusers.com [mailto:framers-boun...@lists.frameusers.com] On Behalf Of Wim Hooghwinkel - idtp Sent: Saturday, January 24, 2015 3:53 AM To: d.d...@icpnewtech.com Cc: Framers; Vikram Verma Subject: Re: Scrolling pages issue Hi Dave, this is a 'well known' FrameMaker issue. RE: Scrolling pages issue
Years ago, I went to the launch event for Adobe InDesign. They said they’d written an entirely new rendering engine using modern, modular code. There was some speculation at the time that this would eventually make it into FrameMaker, but given that it’s been more than a decade, it seems that’s not going to happen. I still can’t believe that I have to periodically hit CTRL-L to manually refresh the screen. Scrolling Pages Issue
Denis, In response to your scrolling issue, I have discovered that having the Insets pod open dramatically affects performance. I am also running FM 12, Windows 7, 64-bit, i7 processor, 8GB. Just tried it to be sure about which pod it was and it forced the program to stop responding completely. Perhaps it is this pod or another one like it that is doing similar activity behind the scenes? Hope this helps!
