Re: [Framers] Linking to a LAN Shared Drive
Thanks...some things are under my control and some I can only suggest. I've been suggesting the "no space" issue...the jury is out. One of the advantages to having a closed highly regulated environment is we pretty much all uie the same desktop software pack, so the variation of browsers is kept to a minimum. I'll evaluate the double slash vs the forward slash. Hi John, You have to use forward slashes instead of backslashes. If you want to use backslashes, you have to double them. It interprets \d or \D as a special character. To actually get "d" into the URL, change it to \\d or \\D. I ran into this just the other day. Re: [Framers] Linking to a LAN Shared Drive
Theoretically, the marker looks something like: message URL file:/// However, if the employees don't all use the same browser on the same operating system, such links may not work for all of them. It's a lot cleaner to have an internal web server and host docs on that. http://framers.frameusers.narkive.com/e3Pj64j6/linking-to-folder-on-network On Thu, Oct 5, 2017 at 1:37 PM,wrote: > Hi guys...my company is transitioning everything from a SharePoint CMS to a > Network Shared LAN drive. > > I'm looking for the "secret sauce" that will allow me to make clickable links > as follows: > > https://xxx.xxx.xxx/xxx/xxx//file name.pdf > > to > > \\xxx.xxx.xxx\xx\\xxx\xxx\xxx\file name.pdf > > Anyone do anything like this? ___ This message is from the Framers mailing list Send messages to framers@lists.frameusers.com Visit the list's homepage at http://www.frameusers.com Archives located at http://www.mail-archive.com/framers%40lists.frameusers.com/ Subscribe and unsubscribe at http://lists.frameusers.com/listinfo.cgi/framers-frameusers.com Send administrative questions to listad...@frameusers.com
[Framers] Linking to a LAN Shared Drive
Hi guys...my company is transitioning everything from a SharePoint CMS to a Network Shared LAN drive. I'm looking for the "secret sauce" that will allow me to make clickable links as follows: https://xxx.xxx.xxx/xxx/xxx//file name.pdf to \\xxx.xxx.xxx\xx\\xxx\xxx\xxx\file name.pdf Anyone do anything like this? - SAVE PAPER - THINK BEFORE YOU PRINT!
