I just thought I would add in my $0.02 worth to this.
I have found that some Microsoft Office products [Outlook, Word, Excel,
etc.] make fake fonts, where weights and styles do not exist - such as
the Symbol font. If there is any text in Symbol, and bold effect is
applied, Office products
I'm not sure if I'm remembering this correctly, but I think "Bolded"
(rather than "Bold") is FrameMaker's way of saying that no actual bold
font was available for use. Rather, someone used the Bold button in the
toolbar (or selected Bolded in a paragraph or character designer) to
apply a fake

Some of the font issues come up as well from items that are part of FM at
install. For example, the "File > New > Document" has an option to "Explore
Standard Templates" and that resulting screen is a document that is a FM source
file. It has fonts. The same with some of the other tools in FM

What does "live transparency" mean? The term isn't explained in the PDF.
Seems to me like InDesign would be a more appropriate tool if you
needed to do things like that.

Yes, I guess my hunch was right. That looks pretty much like a bold fauxing
which is hard to fix. Feel free to send me the file as a zipped MIF and I will
be happy to look at it and provide a fix.
