[Accordion] Booklet function with Framemaker

2008-05-20 Thread mathieu jacquet

Hello,

Following the topic on issuing booklets from Frame (straight from Frame ou
through Acrobat), here is an extra question: how do you (and do you have to, or
is it the printer job?) prepare your document when the final format has been
agreed to be an accordion booklet?

I am facing the problem today, since I have to issue a getting started guide
in accordion format (6,5 cm x 10,5 cm), 10 pages.

Do the tools you previously mentioned (Quite Imposing / CleanPDF) have this
kind of feature?

I am using FM 17.2 on PC.

Thanks for your help,

Mathieu.

 Hi,

A simple solution would be to create a regular PDF file
and then print a booklet to a PDF file via Acrobat.

CutePDF is cheap and is able to do this:

 Hey

Is there a plugin which enables to create a booklet with
 Framemaker. I
am thinking of a function where for example page 1 and page 62 is
printed on one side of the paper and page 2 and page 61 on the other
 side of the paper.

I believe that it does, but again, if you're having this printed
professionally and you receive specific instructions from the printer
that they want something non-standard, it is usually better to give
the printer a clean PDF file and let them do the pagination and
imposition.
That's part of their job; what you or your client is paying them to do.

That being said, an accordion fold card would use standard FM set up
of sequential pages. Page 1 is the cover and as you open the
accordion, 2,3,4, and 5 follow. Flip it over and 6,7,8,9, and 10
follow. So there isn't any unusual imposition required.
