Easiest way to rename all linked graphics without having torescale?
Years ago, I wrote a little DOS command utility that changes one string to another on a large set of files, without having to open each one in an editor. It is a very limited program (in that you have to be careful to NOT have an overlap in the "from" and "to" strings" and you have to be certain that you want all the changes everywhere!), but I have used it for this exact purpose on a number of occasions (not just on MIF files). If anyone wants a copy, please let me know off the list. You could use a program like TextPad, shareware from www.textpad.com?(or $35US if you like it), and open all of your MIF files at one time, versus opening and closing each MIF in something like Notepad. --- On Wed, 1/7/09, Andersen, Verner Engell VEA wrote: From: Andersen, Verner Engell VEA Subject: RE: Easiest way to rename all linked graphics without having to rescale? Easiest way to rename all linked graphics without having torescale?
Hello Verner If you open the MIF file in a text editor, you can search for a graphic name (from the left column of your table) and replace it with the corresponding new name. Then save the MIF and open it in FrameMaker. I don't know of an easier way. Easiest way to rename all linked graphics without having to rescale?
Shmuel, Hadn't heard about NotePad++. Probably because I am a happy TextPad user, but will check it out. ? TextPad will also search/replace through subfolders, supports HTML highlighting, macros, and many other really nice features. --- On Wed, 1/7/09, Shmuel Wolfson wrote: From: Shmuel Wolfson Subject: Re: Easiest way to rename all linked graphics without having to rescale? RE: Easiest way to rename all linked graphics without having to rescale?
Verner, Probably the best way is through MIF. You could use a program like TextPad, shareware from www.textpad.com (or $35US if you like it), and open all of your MIF files at one time, versus opening and closing each MIF in something like Notepad. --- On Wed, 1/7/09, Andersen, Verner Engell VEA wrote: From: Andersen, Verner Engell VEA Subject: RE: Easiest way to rename all linked graphics without having to rescale? RE: Easiest way to rename all linked graphics without having torescale?
Hello Verner If you open the MIF file in a text editor, you can search for a graphic name (from the left column of your table) and replace it with the corresponding new name. Then save the MIF and open it in FrameMaker. I don't know of an easier way.
