FM 9.0p

2010-09-22 Thread Rebecca . L . Frasure
I have FM 9.0p255, Windows XP.

We are having a problem with cross-references. For some reason, our cross
references are adding quote marks around the paratext. Editing the xref
definition doesn't work, Importing xrefs from another manual doesn't work.
It's just ignoring us.
My coworker is getting very frustrated. Thanks very much for any help!

2010-09-22 Thread David Spreadbury
Rebecca,
Check the Cross-Reference for that you are applying.

I am not using FM9, still on F7.2, but I wouldn't expect Adobe to change the
xref format rules:

Look at the following and see if it doesn't answer your problem:

Cross Reference format:
see \<$paratext>\ on page\ <$pagenum>

results in:
see Document Conventions and Symbols on page 16

Cross Reference format:
see \`<$paratext>\' on page\ <$pagenum>

results in:
see "Document Conventions and Symbols" on page 16

Note the \' in the second example. This inserts the double-quotes around the
contents of <$paratext>. The last backslash-space inserts a hard space
(Ctrl+Space).

HTH

Have you tried saving the file(s) out to MIF to clean things up?
