RE: FM 7.2, Tables, and Find
Mary Holder wrote : In using the Find feature to locate various text strings, sometimes FM would highlight the exact text, and sometimes it would stop in a cell above the cell containing the text. Does it actually select the wrong text, or does it just display the black selection rectangle in the wrong place? In other words, when you replace the text, does the correct text get replaced? I've seen this happen, and it always turned out to be a display problem rather than FM selecting the wrong text. Another way to find out what's happening: change the zoom level, or do Ctrl-L to redraw the screen. FWIW, this isn't just a 7.2 problem. I've been experiencing the same thing since 5.something. Annoying, yes, but I just do the same thing as Rebecca. If anybody knows a way to stop this behavior on Frame's part permanently, I would be grateful. Chuck Beck -Original Message- Subject: Re: FM 7.2, Tables, and Find Yes, see the problem. :-( No, don't have a fix. :-(( But when it happens, I click on the beginning of the page it stopped at and re-start the search. RE: FM 7.2, Tables, and Find
Art Campbell wrote, regarding misplaced highlighting when searching table text: Is there any change in behaviour when the maker.ini setting for using printer font metrics is ON? No, that doesn't prevent the problem. And it is strictly a display problem -- the correct text is in fact selected. So, if you're trusting and brave, you can go ahead and click Replace. :-) Richard -- Richard G. If the FrameMaker file originated in Microsoft Word, try saving as MIF; open the MIF file, and save again as .fm. Alternatively, try using Find backwards. Not related to text searches, but a search for paragraph tags in a table is known to skip every other instance (Find backwards is of help here as well).
