I don't believe updating FM will be required.

That helps. Some.

So, once MS releases the patch for 1803, will it also be necessary to update
FM? I hope not. I'm happy with FM12 and our IT guys always complain when we
need to update FM because of the cost. Never mind that we can spend lots more
on other programs. My colleague in another division has switched to Author-IT,
and I'm afraid they will force me to go that route.
AIT isn't bad, but I manage a ton more documents that my colleague does.
Converting everything from FM to AIT would be a royal pain...

Yes, you will be affected too - it's looking like the MS patch for 1803 will be
coming out in late July.

I'm running FM12 and our company will be moving us all to Win 10 as new
computers are rolled out, which for me will be soon. Does this "Save to PDF"
issue apply to FM 12 on Win 10? If yes, it looks like Adobe's fix only applies
to FM15 and later.

Adobe appears to have made a KB article about this, and supplied updates for
the English, French, German, and Japanese versions of Adobe FrameMaker
2015 and 2017 from this page:
https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__helpx.adobe.com_framemaker_kb_cannot-2Dgenerate-2Dpdf-2Dafter-2Dwin-2D10-2Dapril-2Dupdate.html=DwIGaQ=euGZstcaTDllvimEN8b7jXrwqOf-v5A_CdpgnVfiiMM=zzmJd9V-AOY-pLCA-v8cPy_mRSvZCZwNZBdUabWmOfQ=cgy-QmcVDDYwgdi0c8abnIVaxHNlpW7gNorV3oR64hY=mOt0Kx5ujwM7kzeQSa2aHIZjfjWlstJf5ggulIaytfI=

There is no installer for this file - you have to extract the EXE file, and
replace the existing FrameMaker.exe file.

According to the Adobe Tech Comms Tools Product Manager, there's a forum entry
that indicates that the PDF output may affect PDF output as the Windows change
affects widths of printing of characters.

As it is not listed on the Adobe Downloads support page:

... I would hazard a guess that Adobe won't say it is really fixed yet.

P.S. I so detest Windows 10.  It makes Windows 8 look positively stable
and well designed!

Hi All,

any additional info on this issue, specifically when the fix might be released
to the general public? We're still unable to save to PDF from Frame and are
having frequent issues printing Frame docs.

Hi All

Just to update you on Windows 10 (1803 build) issue which impacted File ->

We have been working closely with the Microsoft team on this issue, and

We have started testing out the issue that was reported on this insider
build and the initial testing indicates that this issue has been resolved.
We are still in the process of further verification and confirming that
the issue has been resolved back to Microsoft team.

Re: [Framers] Update on printing issue with Windows 10 1803 Build

2018-06-14 Thread Ken Poshedly
Gang,
I suspect that the latest Windows 10 updates were installed on my system once
more because while I _did_ get a prompt to restart on Tuesday and then directed
it to "wait" (or whatever the screen choice was), I didn't get that prompt last
night after getting home to work on some projects.
The first thing I did was open a Frame doc and print one page from my Samsung
C1810 color laser jet and it DID work. I also was able to successfully print to
the "Adobe printer" to create a postscript file and then a pdf file.
So for the time being, things are ok.
I was thinking of enrolling in the Windows10 beta program, but I don't know if
I'm really qualified (for instance, I'm not a programmer and don't know what
else might be required). Any insights from those of you who already are in that
program?

they have this issue resolved?
