Re: Changes in Dictonaries in FM 10/11 and Re: Languages and FrameMaker languages

2012-10-18 Thread Simon BUCH

Matt,

Thank you for evangelising this piece of information about HunSpell - I
never knew that the HunSpell dictionaries are used in Google Chrome
browser, Opera browser, Apple Mac OS X, and LibreOffice.

The only information I could locate on Adobe's web site was a reference
in the FrameMaker 11 upgrade guide PDF, indicating that the feature is
'available'. The German language Wikipedia entry for Hunspell
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hunspell indicates it is in the Adobe
FrameMaker 11 product.

As a result, Rick Quatro may be able to use the HunSpell Macedonian
[mk_MK]
http://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Dictionaries#Macedonian_.28Former_Yugoslav_Republic_of_Macedonia.29
and Serbian
http://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Dictionaries#Serbian_.28Serbia.2C_Republic_Srpska.29
spelling dictionaries.

I wonder if the hyphenation packages will function with FM11?

// Simon

RE: Changes in Dictonaries in FM 10/11 and Re: Languages and FrameMaker languages

2012-10-18 Thread Reng, Dr. Winfried
Hi,

Can someone explain what the differences are between
Hunspell dictionaries and the ordinary dictionaries which
FrameMaker had used before.
Are the Hunspell dictionaries more reliable?
Or do Hunspell dictionaries cover more words?
Do the personal (and site) dictionaries work with the ordinary
dictionary and the Hunspell dictionary?

Best regards

Winfried

Re: Languages and FrameMaker languages

2012-10-15 Thread Simon BUCH

Hello Rick,

Latvian is: Latviešu
Slovenian is: Slovenščina, whereas Slovenčina is Slovakian. Subtly
different.
Hrvatski is the Serbo-Croatian language, as spoken by Croats mainly in
Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Serbian province of Vojvodina and
other neighbouring countries.

Macedonian? Do you mean the Former Yugoslave Republic of Macedonia
[Македонија] - more commonly referred to as FYROM?

FrameMaker 10 does not have Serbian language српски, which when
written in 'Latin' letters is: srpski.

For Serbian and Macedonian languages, I recommend setting the paragraph
tag Language setting to be None, so that FrameMaker can ignore the spelling.

Regards
// Simon

Hi Yves,

That is very helpful. I found FrameMaker Languages for three of them, but it
doesn't look like they have Languages for Serbian and Macedonian. Thank you
very much for the link.

Hello,

Be careful when reviewing information online ... the Omniglot page has
Slovenian and Slovakian language native names transposed.

Re: Languages and FrameMaker languages

2012-10-15 Thread Writer
Rick, do you mean what string of characters in the Language list is equal to
those languages?

Looking at Google Translate and Wikipedia, my guess would be:

Slovenian (Slovene) = slovenščina (FWIW, this is not the same as slovenčina,
which is Slovak)

Latvian/Lettish = latviešu

Serbian = српски -- I don't see it on the FM list

Croatian = Hrvatski

Macedonian = македонски -- I don't see it on the FM list
