RE: Save as PDF not working for particular directory
For many, many years now, I have avoided using a comma in directory and file names for just this kind of problem - and not just with FrameMaker or Acrobat, by the way. And, in early releases of Windows, with applications that had not yet migrated away from DOS 8.3 naming conventions, even a space (or too long a name) was often an issue. Today, however, spaces work for most everything except for some really old applications (some still think that "C:\" root directory is a good place to write stuff! In Windows 7 and 8, the disk root cannot be used for files if you are not the Administrator user). Now, I use a space or an underscore for directory and file name separators ... that you are using a comma for. The underscore is best for Unix systems and many Windows apps too (otherwise you have to enclose the file or directory name in quotes), so it has become a habit for me too. Also, a period "." is best used sparingly in Windows file names as a separator, since the concept of a file extension to recognize the file content (this is not an issue for Unix) can cause problems with some applications too. IMHO this is a bug, as on windows a comma is allowed in directory names. ~~ Docu + Design Daube; Schäracher 11; CH-8053 Zürich Technical documentation & consultancy; On-line and paper F: +41-44-422 86 25 E: d...@daube.ch W: www.daube.ch ___ You are currently subscribed to framers as syed.hos...@aeris.net. Re: Save as PDF not working for particular directory
Hi Klaus, my FM12 is not available at the moment, and also I only have here the latest Acro 10. After short testing, what I can say is: FM 9 + Acro 10.1.13 --> OK, PDF output is fine FM 8 + Acro 10.1.13 --> NOT OK, produces only the "empty job" log file. So, it may be an Acrobat problem, but it may also be a problem with FrameMaker (or the combination of both programs?). Best regards - Tino H.
