Hi Lindsay,
Is the person with the EBM anyone I would know? I have a battery grip and
battery box for an EBM if they're looking. Or the 7-pin connectors to make a
power cable/adaptor.

I've got an extra SBM I could sell. It has a 13x viewfinder and the big
bayonet lens on it that they came with. Might be more trouble than it's
worth though as I'm in Vancouver. Let me know off-list if you are
interested and I will take some photos. I also know a guy out here who has

Yes, I was able to purchase two Rex 5s & lenses from Dieter in Spring 2018.
This was for an academic department, but I believe he's not picky about who
wants a camera ;)

Filmos and K100s are excellent cameras. No reflex finder, but with a 10mm

I had one of these cameras that I already sold. The wind ups, from my

This has been a huge issue in the 16mm world for decades now. Since there does
seem to be continuing interest in the medium among ongoing generations of
artists, I wonder what we can do to keep the
Hi George:
I have a fairly rare bird I’m willing to sell: a spring drive Beaulieu R16.
I’m posting this to the list to give Jeff a chance to crap on it’s French

The problem is that there aren't many people who can service the things
any longer, whereas it used to be there were thousands of older guys who
had been through Filmo and Eyemo school in the service who were doing
camera service. So what you save in lower prices due to reduced demand,

Yes, I mean Du-All.
I noticed Chambless's website is down today. Are they okay?

Dieter does sell Rex 5 cameras.
Some well known 16mm camera retailers have reduced their prices for sync
cameras and less feature-rich MOS camera alternatives to the Bolex.
The Bolex’s overall level of quality for the money and it’s spring drive
have made it seemingly less prone to the up/down
Jason Halprin, didn't you tell me a few years ago that Dieter (aka

only for the academic market?

I think you mean DuAll. DuArt was a film lab famous for losing films in their
vaults.
DuAll is recommended and in NYC.

Jeff, is the Rex 1 possible to refit with a Rex 5 finder? The Rex 1 finder is
really kind of horrible but I have never seen a retrofit done before.

I second this recommendation... I had no idea how cool this lens was until a
few years ago.

I’d avoid the EL — buggy electronics and hard to fix. Beaulieus are buggy, too.
And don’t even think of a Scoopic...
Get a later Rex 5 (not for the magazines, but for the 13x viewfinder (vs 10x on

Hi, everyone. I hope you're staying safe.
My trusty Rex-4 was stolen last Fall and I'm ready to invest in a
replacement. Ideally I'd like to find a Rex-5 in nice shape (any extras a
plus.)
I would consider a Beaulieu R16 or Bolex EL *but* I'm not sure if these
have time exposure features, and
