I'm teaching a cameraless filmmaking class right now, and I just had my students make 240-frame direct animation/distressed film loops using the material in our trim bins that's accumulated over the years. At least here at the University of Florida, all the odd scraps of films do get used/reuse

Kristie -- scanning is expensive, and bits are hard to preserve. I'd wind everything as compactly as you can, minimizing number of cans and recording all rearrangements, and try to keep it. Perhaps a relative somewhere has cool and dry space? Rick __

I used to give my outtakes and junk to a local college film program where they were teaching editing and teaching students to work with found film. However they don't do that any longer, so it just sits on shelves piling up a little higher every day. I _am_ curious what students managed to do
