Re: [Frameworks] 8mm resources?
Spectra processes reg/standard 8mm and paclab as well, both b/w and color reversal, but I prefer spectra. Paclab always an issue such as scratches, etc, but glad they're there. 8mm is my preferred guage., and thanks to schwind, stock is available. [Frameworks] steenbeck in NYC still needs home
Hi Frameworks, I know that many of you did respond to wanting to give a loving home to my steenbeck which is in an NYU building in NYC and need to be taken out of there. See I am in LA. So I can not help you other than lead you there and get you in the building during a week day. maybe the weekend. I apologize for those of you who did show an interest and then I did not get back to you. I heard back from a lot of people. So I was trying to sort through all of that and find those that were serious and those whom ideally would keep it in NYC and would allow me to use it when I returned or at least have it in a place where it could be some what communally accessed. I want to find a place where if you did not need it or want it after any amount of time you would not just sell it off or give it away to someone you did not know but would contact me and see if at that point I could help you find another place for it. It came from the NYC community and I thought it was a good idea to keep it active there. However, I am open to all sorts of things now since my ideal spots ended up not working out. It is a 6 plate. Taken apart there are 4 parts including the trim bin. the largest part is 3 1/2'' and is heavy, but it is on wheels. I recommend using a van or a truck with a ramp. Then 2 very strong people or 3 people can maneuver it. Otherwise to lift it into a van could take upwards of 4 very strong people. It is bulky!! It is heavy!! It is a wonderful machine that could last you a life time!!! It has mag and optical sound. All bulbs working. Has recently been serviced by Steenbeck master Paul Tomasko. I dont know the year...I think 80s. Paul said they were bought new by NYU and he has serviced this machine throughout its time there. its a good one. Please let me know if you can take it from 383 Lafayette asap! There is an elevator to the street to help you. I as I said am in LA and can only help you over the phone. Re: [Frameworks] also about the steenbeck in nyc (added info)
The following is simply added info for anyone possibly interested in the Steenbeck that Katherine is trying to move... If it's from the 80s, then it is likely a model ending in 01. 2 plate - model 1201 4 plate - 1601 6 plate - 1901 8 plate (two picture) - 921 Is it just 16mm or 16/35? The 01 models with skirt legs can be broken down into four main parts. Disconnect wires and remove the picture head. Remove all electrical connections tying the legs to the rest of the machine, then unbolt the legs. Presto - four pieces, some of them very heavy, but certainly able to move in a station wagon. Of course, leaving the legs on makes it easier to roll on to a truck, but if this is not an option, taking the legs off can help move it. Furniture dollies required. Model 01 Steenbeks produce bi-phase tach and can trigger synch (as Pip mentioned here in a recent post) to Pro Tools or Soundtrack or other software that allows one to sync to Bi-phase, LTC or MTC. Steenbecks can be converted to cover super16. Paul Tomasko can do this or sell you a kit. Steenbecks can have squared spindles for mounting film reels, which is convenient for inspecting/viewing prints. KEM had round spindles, at least all the ones I've seen, and I cannot recall with the Moviola flatbeds have. --Alain On Fri, Aug 17, 2012 at 12:29 PM, katherine Bauer kittylitter...@gmail.comwrote: Hi All again, So basically -- do not shy away if you are not in NYC...it still may be the best match! Just know that I cant offer any assistance...and I would still apprechiate that you do not sell it off without consulting me first. I just like the idea we can keep it circulating amongst filmmakers for free. xoK -- http://katherineannebauer.blogspot.com ___ FrameWorks mailing list FrameWorks@jonasmekasfilms.com https://mailman-mail5.webfaction.com/listinfo/frameworks -- 40 FRAMES Alain LeTourneau Pam Minty 40 FRAMES 5232 North Williams Avenue Portland, Oregon 97217 USA +1 503 231 6548 www.40frames.org www.16mmdirectory.org www.emptyquarterfilm.org ___ FrameWorks mailing list FrameWorks@jonasmekasfilms.com https://mailman-mail5.webfaction.com/listinfo/frameworks
