Re: [Frameworks] flickering
Hello Franco, The question doesn't seem banal to me, but just a bit difficult to provide your answer. Flickering in my experience is originated in-camera either from a shutter problem or from fluorescent lighting (or another modulating light source). It is realized by having adjacent frames with differing exposure but I don't know of a way to achieve that mechanically in a projector. Since the shutter wheel makes a complete revolution for each frame, any modification to the shutter should affect all frames equally... I imagine the only way would be to have a modulating light of some sort (strobe?) to augment the standard projection lamp. Perhaps something like a strobing LED bicycle light could be placed in the lamphouse to accomplish that. I would worry of it melting quite quickly, but if it is upwind of the normal lamp in the cooling airflow, it might work... I'd be curious to hear if this or another method provides the effect you're looking for. ---Buck Bito, San Francisco On Sun, December 2, 2012 1:22 pm, franco base wrote: too banal? 2012/11/30 franco base frenk.ca...@gmail.com Hi. I'd have flickering using super8. I can make using camera and shoothing changing exposure If I'd use projector to have flckering what is the way? Is there some projector that flickering better? Re: [Frameworks] Ernie Gehr Filmography
Hi Chuck, Ernie Gehr was at SCMS in Boston this past year, talking about his recent video work. The panel consisted of Gehr, Haden Guest (Harvard Film Archive), Ken Eisenstein (U of Chicago), and J. Carlos Kase (University of North Carolina). Perhaps their papers are available online somewhere? I was also astonished to see the amount of work he has done since 2000. It is rather astonishing to see how much work Gehr has produced after 2000, and especially in the past few years. Has anyone written about this? Any interviews with him where he discusses it? There are some media makers who have been remarkably productive in the amount of their work, while there are others who seem very parsimonious in finished product. Obviously some of this has to do with artistic vision and goals, and also personality, but also resources, etc. I can't think of anyone who made such a rapid shift as is evidenced in this filmography. I'd love to learn more about it. And to see the new work! Chuck Kleinhans ___ FrameWorks mailing list FrameWorks@jonasmekasfilms.com https://mailman-mail5.webfaction.com/listinfo/frameworks

Re: [Frameworks] Need Motherboard for Canon Super 8 1014 XLS Camera
What's the issue with the motherboard? Can it be repaired at the component level? On Mon, Dec 3, 2012 at 5:39 PM, Ken Paul Rosenthal kenpaulrosent...@hotmail.com wrote: I have a Canon Super 8 1014 XLS camera that is in mint condition in every way, save it needs a new mother board. It's on odd malfunction, given that the rest of camera is so spectacularly immaculate. So it's worth finding and mining another junker camera for it's mother board. Any leads out there?
