[Frameworks] historical question

2015-04-03 Thread Michael Betancourt
On pg 34 of MacDonalds book Art In Cinema, there is a letter from Hans Richter
in which he mentions a pamphlet on the history of avant-garde film he wrote,
published in 1943. Does anyone have/know of a copy they could share with me?
I've been looking and can't find it--or any other reference to it

Thanks in advance

I believe Kodak used to put expiration dates on super-8 products sold under the
consumer label.
Since super8 is now part of the regular professional catalog, there are no
expiration dates on these products.
There is a manufacturer's code on the box which tells Kodak from which batch
the roll comes from.
If you call Kodak and give them that number, they should be able to give you an
approximate date of manufacture.

Hi Shumona,

There are 2 Labs in Bombay, Filmlab and Ramnord. Both have Cinevator Machines.
They can print you bw footage to 35mm with Dolby SR sound in sync. Filmlab
people are a bit hardcore, but Ramnord people are super nice. And if you have
concerns about the quality: The have to send samples back to the Manufacturer
of Cinevator in Norway. So its proper! I have done it just recently and it
looks 100%. Also bw I have done. And the cost is really low: Setting up will
cost you 5000 Rs, and then they charge 1000 Rs per Minute ().
If you want to first see a test with a sample of your material, you pay 5000
Rs. If youre happy and go ahead, then they will refund those 5000.
I'm not sure if you do several prints, whether they give discounds on 2nd print
and so on... that you would have to ask...

The person in charge is Mr. Mandar, he's a nice guy and he has worked with Arri

ah, and one more thing: Ramnord has the latest version of Cinevator, they can
even expose on 35mm colour negative.
I have not done that myself, so I dunno how it works and what are the
requirements for your digital material. Also I dunno how it works with the
soundtrack then.
But the great thing is that you can get a 35mm Negative made, and from that you
could get analogue contact prints made.
Ramnord have made contact prints for me just recently (from 35mm print material
via 35mm interneg) and they were also looking great.
