Thanks, I have DaVinci have only used it for grading my latest film Revelations
(2019) with help from a tech. I guess I should venture into the program myself.

Re: [Frameworks] Premiere alterantive

2019-09-12 Thread Bill Randall
Davinci Resolve is great, but it needs a powerful GPU, 4gb at least. It'll
run with less, but it will be slow and frustrating depending on the codecs
and file resolution.

Matt, if I'm reading your system specs right your GPU has 1.5GB and so it's
underpowered for Resolve.

The DR build guide with suggested specs is here:

I use Final Cut Pro X since I'm used to it, but to be honest, I really
should be using my DaVinci Resolve. It's really an excellent program and
the free version will do most of what you need. I had all our interns use
it this summer and they really loved it. The paid version is really
excellent.

The biggest problem I have found so far with Premier is not being able to
export files to play on DVDs all I get are data files that will not play on
ordinary DVD players. I guess they presume all is streaming on a computer. If
anyone has an easy solution for this on Premier, it is more than appreciated.

[Frameworks] Premiere alterantive

2019-09-12 Thread Matt Shaw
fellow filmmakers—

Adobe Premiere Pro CC seems to be an endless source of trouble this past year
or two, seemingly linked with Mac updates and Adobe updates being in discord.
The application either doesn’t load at all or loads and becomes unresponsive.

I’m looking for feedback from folks working on projects in iMovie, Final Cut,
AVID or are making Premiere work for them. I started editing with Final Cut 7
and miss its stability if nothing else. Calling Adobe Customer Service of
course...

Since the messageboards always ask for it

Adobe Premiere Pro 13.1.1 (Build 2)
Mac OS High Sierra 10.13.6
2.2 Ghz Core i7 processor
16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 memory
Intel Iris Pro 1536 MG graphics
