Hey guys
does anyone have any good solutions for making photographic prints off 16mm
film? I talked to fotokep about it and it's kinda pricey. Any home-made
solutions? like a loupe on the lens of a 35mm still camera type of thing?
trying to avoid both optical printing and scanning digitally.

Mariah,
have you tried 35mm macro lens photography?
that way you could even take a quick picture and then crop the area you don't
want to print in the darkroom.
best wishes,pablo.

I was recently recanning a large amount of 16mm reversal original, and wanted
to capture frames just to get a sense of what was on each roll.
I had a cheap Panasonic Lumix camera with macro capability, and found that if

Put your 16mm in the negative carrier of a photographic enlarger and mask
it as you like. Then you're ready to strike prints from it without any
digital intervention!

thanks guys -
i think i was thinking of the century precision optics version of the

i'd prefer to print directly off my neg but don't really have much
experience printing photos and i don't want to scratch my neg (not this one
at least and this is time sensitive). plus i have like a mil

I used to put the 16mm film in an enlarger to make prints.
However, the quality is really not all that good because when film goes
through a projector the grain, which is different for each frame, kind of
vanishes because it's only on the screen for 1/2 of 1/24 of a second. The

hi,
i've had some 16mm stills drum-scanned by a guy called nathan baker who was

through your film at 7200+ dpi. it has an amazing softness, color space,
and of course resolution. i have never seen such good results from

Hello
My suggestion-
I use a slide duplicator lens. The lens is about 8 inches long and
screws into my slr camera. There is a slot for a slide/ I actually
have 16mm slide-holders (for 110 slides when presented in a 35mm slide
projector).
After selecting a 16mm frame- I hold it up to the sky an

I do not have experience with a DSLR and slide duper- After some research-
a flatbed scanner seems to be the best choice for the digital route-
I have embraced the slide-duper technique as an alternative to digital-
and as an approach to enlarging 16mm stills in my darkroom.
