Hey folk,
Recently had a nice experience projecting with one of these (the manual
load ones), and I'm considering getting one and having it be my primary

I like these machines a lot, built like tanks, easy to clean and take
apart, really great with damaged film, fast loading and ideal for short
loops (which I use them for) The weight and availability of bulbs, as you
mention, are the main issues for me - that and they look like something

Thanks you 2; Alain, it's true the path isn't as easy as the Pageant

Plus the pageants I was eyeing didn't seem that great/cheap, so I just got

I have easily owned 50+ projectors over the years, and have had a coupleathree
of these go through my collection.
(I think I have one sitting unused in my basement right now, actually.)
I never used them for very long.
The threading is complicated, and hard to get out mid-reel, ( i.e. if the
Hey Gang,
I'm trying to work up a list of films that are direct remakes (like
What Farocki Taught), or riffs/covers (Ceibas: Epilogue - The Well of
Representation), or, hell, just films that are mainly sourced with
recognizable images (Alone. Life Wastes Andy Hardy & Outer Space).
Thoughts?

In a pinch, I think you can rent dorm rooms during the summer at UCLA. At last
you used to be able to-- a great location of course. The best.
You might also be able to sneak into the film class showings on campus, too--
or ask the professors.

Hm. I tried that, but didn't find anything -- everyone who wrote back was
either a boy, or had incompatible dates. Thanks for the help, though. I
really appreciate it.

Many, if not all, works by Karen Yasinsky—including *Audition*; *Life is an
Opinion, Fire a Fact* and many others—consist of mediated quotations of
segments from films by John Cassavetes, Tarkovsky, Bresson, et al.
