Here's a suite of VHS based work from me: http://michaellightborne.businesscatalyst.com/vhs-suite.html It's relatively easy to get digital video onto VHS - you just need a VCR and a composite or (S-Video) output on whatever digital player you are using. The most straighforward setup (though not offering the best quality before the video gets to VHS) is to burn your video onto DVD and then dub to a VHS cassette. Re: [Frameworks] Digital file to VHS?
I recently finished a VHS project... performative work looping between two modified decks and working with a handmade video switcher built in a peppermint tin... however, i finished the project to digital because the work we did with VHS was performative and quite physical, so the tape took quite a beating during the creation process, as such, digital finish seemed to be the most stable in that instance the project was a collaboration between myself and Léandre Bourgeois, and it's distributed by CFMDC. more info can be found here: http://www.cfmdc.org/node/56725 Amanda Dawn Christie 506-871-2062 www.amandadawnchristie.ca ama...@amandadawnchristie.ca ___ On 2015-07-14, at 2:58 AM, Albert Alcoz wrote: Hello Frameworkers, I'm writing because i wanted to ask if someone knows some projects related to artists video and experimental cinema that use the VHS as the final format. Re: [Frameworks] Digital file to VHS?
because you are going from one format to another, and they need a machine in between to convert it. you are not changing the scan rate, correct, but you would be converting one resolution to another, lower resolution. You would go in 1080i (example) from the computer, and export it NTSC to your VHS deck. Scan converter is the simplified name of the device you would would use. Re: [Frameworks] Digital file to VHS?
There is a professional piece of video production gear known as a scan converter. The correct scan converter for your needs will have analog outs to go into a VHS deck. This will give you a purer image than burn your video onto DVD and then dub to a VHS cassette. DVDplayer - VCR Scan converters come in a range of qualities and prices. They can take different resolutions in, and modify them as they go out. Some are simple with only presets, and some are very complex, with the ability to manipulate the ingoing and outgoing signals. They can be rented from A/V rental houses. Buying would be pretty expensive. Here's an example a good one that you could use. http://www.barco.com/en/Products-Solutions/Image-processing/Presentation-switchers/All-in-one-video-scaler-scan-converter-and-switcher.aspx Kristie 'A first class technician should work best under pressure.' - - - Issac Asimov To: albertalc...@yahoo.es; frameworks@jonasmekasfilms.com From: m.g.pig...@warwick.ac.uk Date: Tue, 14 Jul 2015 10:14:00 +0100 Subject: Re: [Frameworks] Digital file to VHS?
