Enhanced command line user interface (freeampcmd.ui).

2001-05-23 Thread Dave Mielke

As a blind user who relies heavily on command line interfaces, I've enhanced
the command line user interface in order to make it much more useful. I've
added simple things like the ability to move back and forth by different
amounts of time, the ability to switch between play list items, and the ability
to request information about the currently playing item. I've also added a
status line which is updated in real time much like the data in a GUI would be.
I'm also thinking about adding the ability to maintain the play list, set the
volume and equalizer, etc. Assuming that this work is useful for the product,
how can these changes be incorporated into a FreeAmp release?

Hi:

Did you ever send in a patch for this?

No, I didn't. I haven't yet been able to figure out how to do it. Perhaps it
has to do with the fact that I'm using lynx, and something about that doesn't
jive with the web pages.

I hope you're able to get a patch submitted, I realy like the enhanced CLI you've put
together.

I shall give it another try. Perhaps someone could babysit me through the
process at least once. N.B.: If it's done via the web, then I need to be able
to do it with lynx.

Hi:

how are you getting the source? Are you using cvs?

No. I downloaded a .tar.gz file from freeamp.org.
