All implementations of csh and tcsh do this. I've tested this on Solaris csh, Tru64-UNIX csh, and DG/UX csh. Their implementations of csh behave the same as tcsh does, so does 44bsd-csh in the FreeBSD ports collection. This is not a bug, or if it is a bug it's been there since the beginning
