Version 4.8 is the one for you. 5.0 5.1 are development versions
and are for people who can debug the operating system. 4.8 is the
stable production version.

Start with 4.8, I started with 4.7 on January this year and have been using
4.8 since then, mainly because I couldn't install 5.0 on my old PC's. But
4.8 is the best choice when its your first time with FreeBSD.
