I don't know why you didn't succeed in installing 'xorg-server' during your installation if that was indeed your intent. Read the Handbook section on installing X if you want to try installing or configuring X post-install: http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/x11.html
