unable to use multiple exports for mountd
I have been dealing with this problem for many years and never really found a reasonable solution or explanation and now it has come to a point where I can no longer find work arounds to make it work the way I need it. How do I export more than one folder for export with different options for each? Here is my current exports file /share /usr/ports -mapall=root /usr/src /usr/obj /syscommon -ro -mapall=root but I get the following when I try to run mountd: Oct 21 10:24:49 butters mountd[80376]: can't change attributes for /syscommon Oct 21 10:24:49 butters mountd[80376]: bad exports list line /syscommon -ro -mapall If I reverse the exports to the following: /usr/src /usr/obj /syscommon -ro -mapall=root /share /usr/ports -mapall=root I get the following: Oct 21 10:38:20 butters mountd[1465]: can't change attributes for /usr/ports Oct 21 10:38:20 butters mountd[1465]: bad exports list line /share /usr/src /usr/obj /usr/ports -mapall It seems no matter which way I put the exports its always the second one that fails. Looking at the example in man exports(5) I see the same thing between the first entry and the 5th onethis seems to imply that what I am trying to do with my exports file should work just fine. from man page: /usr /usr/local -maproot=0:10 friends /usr -maproot=daemon grumpy.cis.uoguelph.ca 131.104.48.16 /usr -ro -mapall=nobody /u -maproot=bin: -network 131.104.48 -mask 255.255.255.0 /u2 -maproot=root friends /u2 -alldirs -network cis-net -mask cis-mask /cdrom -alldirs,quiet,ro -network 192.168.33.0 -mask 255.255.255.0 So where am I going wrong here? unable to subscribe
I am unable to subscribe to freebsd-security-notifications...but I was able to subscribe to about 6 other lists just fine I send in the request to subscribe...I get back the confirmation email with the auth line...which I paste very carefully in another email to be sent back but then instead of being subscribed I get another majordomo results email stating my request was successful but I still need to confirm and my email address is incorrect. -- Basically I send this: subscribe freebsd-security-notifications -- I get this commands (exactly as shown) back to "[EMAIL PROTECTED]": auth 2cd8eff3 subscribe freebsd-security-notifications [EMAIL PROTECTED] If you do not want this action to be taken, simply ignore this message and the request will be disregarded. -- Then I reply with this: auth 2cd8eff3 subscribe freebsd-security-notifications [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- And I get this: >>>> auth 2cd8eff3 subscribe freebsd-security-notifications [EMAIL PROTECTED] Your request to [EMAIL PROTECTED]: subscribe freebsd-security-notifications [EMAIL PROTECTED] must be authenticated. Re: unable to subscribe
Actually I am trying to subscribe not unsubscribe If I cant unsubscibe I might just give up and setup a email filter to kill the messages...or if I was upset enough I might set them to auto-bounce unthil they stopped but so far I have never once had trouble getting off a list I subscribed myself to. As a matter of fact I just recently unsubscribed my old email from the list just before trying to subscibe again with my new mail accounts. Install SCSI CD-R
I have had no luck at all finding the correct procedure to install a SCSI CD-R under FreeBSD. I am uses an AHA-1701 SCSI controller but I believe this is not being seen at all by the hardware probe...although I may not even know what I am looking for. I Am running FreeBSD 5.0-RELEASAE installed from the FTP site about 2 months ago so everything is pretty recent versions of everything. The only reason I am runing 5.0-RELEASE is because it seems to be the only one that supports my SB Live sound card. Anyhow below is the dmesg.today. Anyone see if my card is even being reconized by FreeBSD...and if not is there an driver I can load before the kernel boots much like then one I use for my sb live?
