Groups

2004-05-31 Thread Scott Gerhardt
To simplify administration for some temporary groups I would like to make a group a member of an existing group. The question is: Can a group be made a member of a group, i.e. nested groups? There is nothing in the documentation that says that a group can or cannot be made a member of a

Auth.log

2004-07-04 Thread Scott Gerhardt
I'm running FreeBSD 4.7 and I noticed that /var/log/auth.log does not include year () in the log entries. My daily cron jobs recently sent notice that there were some failed login attempts on July 3 to an account that was removed many months ago. This raised concern, so I did a thorough

Strange burncd error

2003-10-28 Thread Scott Gerhardt
I have been using mkisofs and burncd for some time now on 4.7-RELEASE with no problems. I recently upgraded the same hardware to 4.8-RELEASE (complete re-install) and now I notice that a backup script which creates CD's of system tarballs now returns the following error on completion:

Startup Scripts

2004-09-02 Thread Scott Gerhardt
I am noticing that startup scripts in /usr/local/etc/rc.d are now being initiated from /etc/rc.conf with the enable=YES invocation. See example from /usr/loccal/etc/rc.d/clamav-clamd.sh below, which I just installed from ports. Besides using the kill/killall methods, what is the preferred STOP

There are only two channels so you can only have 2 drives in raid 1 or 0. Don't use 0 unless you don't care about your data. You didn't specify the type of motherboard or SATA RAID chipset, but all of those onboard RAID controllers are not true hardware raid (Host raid) and require special
