commenting out in loader.rc the "include /boot/beastie.4th" and
"beastie-start" lines, but then I get no bootmenu at all.
How do I get a nice splash screen ? Hints and/or tips are welcome :-)

I did see the error but didn't find anything about foomatic-rip. It seems to
be part of the /print/foomatic-filters port. After installing that, that
error went away, just to bring another one into focus... Seemed that I also
needed the /print/hpijs port. And after installing that one too, I can
print !! :-)
So, to sum it up, to get an HP Photosmart 7350 to work, one needs :
- cups
- foomatic-filters
- hpijs

Hi all,
Is there an easy way to get to know the volume id or disclabel of a cd or
dvd ? Mounting the cd/dvd just gives me the contents of the disc, but not its
"name".
In k3b one can ask the info about a disc and get all the info about the
inserted cd/dvd (disc type, tracks, sessions,...). But

Hi,
How do I find what ip address I'm really having ?
My adsl modem/firewall gives me a dynamic private address : 192.168.1.101,
which is what I see with an ifconfig. But how do I find the real (dynamic)
address given to my modem by my provider ?
I'm using 5.3-rel-p4.

Hi,
When trying to use ndis on my 5.3-rel-p1, I get the following compile error. I
added to my kernel "options ndisapi" and "device ndis" (the "device wlan" was
already compiled in), all as found in the man ndis-synopsis. But the
compilation stops because there is a file missing : ndis_driver_d
Hi,
How do I load the ndis.ko driver at boot/startup ? I've followed the
instructions on how to get the ndisulator working for my Z-Com wi-fi mini pci
card and got a (working) ndis0 dev now. I can kldload the ndis.ko and
if_ndis.ko but is there a way to automate this via /boot/loader.conf
or /
t'' in the boot
loader menu and enter the following lines at the prompt:
set hint.atkbd.0.flags="0x1"
boot
Note that if you use the boot floppies, this is set by default.
After the installation, add the following line to /boot/loader.conf:
hint.atkbd.0.flags=&
FreeBSD >= 5.x.
I'm running 5.3-rel now. How do I get kdemultimedia upgraded to 3.3.1 ? All
the rest of kde got upgraded without any (major) problems.
Thx,
