src out of sync or buildworld broken?
Afternoon everyone. I track RELENG_5 using cvsup that runs nightly. Today I've been trying to buildworld and keep running into problems with missing directories and files. First, build world was complaing that the /usr/src/sys/dev/ieee488 dir was missing. Couldn't find anything on google pertaining to the error. I cd'd to the dev dir and it wasn't there so I created it. I then ran again and ran into the same thing with /usr/src/sys/geom/shsec dir missing, so I created that. Now I'm getting an error message: In file included from /usr/src/secure/lib/libcrypto/../../../crypto/openssl/crypto/sha/sha_locl.h:133, from /usr/src/secure/lib/libcrypto/../../../crypto/openssl/crypto/sha/sha_dgst.c:70: /usr/src/secure/lib/libcrypto/../../../crypto/openssl/crypto/md32_common.h:132:26: openssl/fips.h: No such file or directory mkdep: compile failed *** Error code 1 Stop in /usr/src/secure/lib/libcrypto. *** Error code 1 find can't find fips.h nor fips Any suggestions? Re: Weird stuff after moving to a new MB
Yeah, it's kinda weird with the floppy, it'll make the noises like it's trying to start and just sit there, Same thing with the IDE drives. Have tried to boot from CD as well. The FreeBSD will start and get hung after loading uhcio (??) and I'll have to power cycle the system. Windows 2000 install hangs when it tries to start Windows 2000. Sigh.. and it's such a nice board otherwise --- Lowell Gilbert [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Gary Lum [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: I had FreeBSD 5.1 installed on an older Dual 440BX motherboard which was current with CVS. I replaced the board with a 440GX dual. I've rebuilt world and kernel and still have the same problems. I'm also noticing now that after reconfiguring X, my mouse is chunky. To be honest, it's chunky in the mouse setup in /stand/sysinstall too. I'm leaning towards a flakey board but have to admit my naivity in that it may be due to not reinstalling from CD. Suggestions, comments? The floppy is one thing -- if it won't work at boot, then FreeBSD probably isn't related to its problems. The NIC may be a different issue; you could try booting from the install CD and see if it works from there. The mouse I'm even less sure about; it sounds like it could be an interrupt problem, but that's a sort of vague guess. Then again, I'm still running 4.x (5.x won't boot at all on my spare machine, thanks to the inclusion of AGP in the default kernels)... __ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Weird stuff after moving to a new MB
Hello everyone, I'm hoping that someone might be able to give me some ideas on what to check to rule out a flakey MB. Re: Error building named-xfer when buildworld
Hmmm Looks like it is uptodate. my cvsupfile does have 'src-contrib' listed. I checked usr/src/contrib/bind and the dates for the build files are Dec 16th. However, the readme is from 2002. What if I blew away the bind folder and re cvsup? --- Kris Kennaway [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: On Thu, Dec 18, 2003 at 09:45:00PM -0800, Gary Lum wrote: I'm trying to patch an older box that has never been. I'm thinking that a rebuild of NAMED might be in order. Any ideas? Verify that your cvsupfile is complete; e.g. you may not be updating the contrib sources. two questions,
I have two questions, the first regarding CVSup and cron jobs, the second about port upgrade. I've gotten cvsup working correctly. It is following 5_1_RELENG and . for ports. I want to do a daily check using crontabs and have created one under root. However, my daily mail says that it can't find cvsup. IS this just a simple fix by putting in the full path or am I missing something? Second, I was following the portupgrade tutorial for upgrading your installed ports at onlamp. http://www.onlamp.com/pub/a/bsd/2003/08/28/FreeBSD_Basics.html I ran portupgrade -arR about 9pm on Thursday. It is now 5pm on Friday and it's STILL running. My box isn't the fastest on the block, but it is a Dual P2 300 (running SMP) with 256 megs of RAM and am running X , Apache2, and PHP aside from the standard setup/ I guess my question is more a concern in that I inadvertantly installed ALL the ports in the collection. Did I? Manning portupgrade, the -a says upgrade all INSTALLED with the r's being forward and backwards recursive, but 20 hours? __ Do you Yahoo!? Call me stupid...
I've just built a new BSD box 5.1 and recompiled the kernel for SMP and firewalling. I was working on getting CVSUP working and used cvsupit to generate the supfile. Somehow, Prolly cause I didn't RTFM, I missed that the default tag . would get me FREEBSD-Current. I then started CVSUP and got about halfway through before cancelling the CVSUP. If I'm reading this correctly, Current is developmental and should probably not be a production machine? IS there a way to backout of this? I haven't done anything to the system after stopping CVSUP. What if I wiped the directories and reloaded the source from CD? OR should I finish the CVSUP and live with Current? Any help would be MOST appreciated. And yeah, you can start the e-mail off with DUH and remind me to change the default tag to RELENG_5_1 ;) __ Do you Yahoo!? Protect your identity with Yahoo!
