CUPS + GDI(GNU Ghostscript)
I'm trying to use a Samsung ML1710 laster printer on FreeBSD. It's connected via USB and is detected: ulpt0: Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. Samsung ML-1710, rev 1.10/1.00, addr 3, iclass 7/1 It is Linux-drivers on the CD that does not work with FreeBSD (not Linux either), but the Samsung ML1210 driver that is in the GDI-driver in GNU-Ghostscript works in Linux. But in FreeBSD, it does not list the Ghostscript-drivers in the Gnome-cups-manager or the web-interface, like it does in Linux (Fedora+RedHat+Mandrake). I think this is some configurations the distro-makers do, but I cannot find out what. This printer does _only_ accept postscript that is 100% correctly formatted. A frequent problem, is that somebody coded an infinite loop, filling a variable and then the process runs outof memory and segfaults. PHP code like this for example: $i = 11; $buffer = ''; while ( $i != 10 ) { $buffer .= 'hello'; $i++; } PHP does have memory-limits. ___ [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-questions To unsubscribe, send any mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

In the apache logs I find no actions that would be in sync with those timestamps. Google was not much help either. How should I go about investigating this ? How can I find out more infos about what is causing this ? I'm puzzled and a bit worried. Many thanks for any hints. Have you loaded any extra modules? (the PHP3-module for example can make Apache to SEGFAULT) If so, check that they are the latest version. Do you run the latest version of Apache? If you're running Apache2, maybe you should try 1.3. ___ [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-questions To unsubscribe, send any mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Re: Dynamic Router IP.
Peter Risdon wrote: Mike wrote: that it's his dsl router that gets the dynamic ip address, not the freebsd box. Presumably, the router has a static 192.168.1.x address facing the LAN and the freebsd box uses this as its gateway. I doubt you can install a daemon on the router. The deamon has ways to find out its external ip, so don't worry about installing the daemon on the router :) Mike It does? How? The daemon will be running on the Freebsd machine, which does not have the external ip address. I use dynamic dns services here and there but so far as I know they all require a daemon running on the machine which actually has the relevant dynamic address. This is drifting slightly off-topic, but I'm interested to know. Re: signal 4 during buildworlds
Hey, I'm getting sig 4 (core dumped) trying to buildworld. The has occurred 3 times now, at different places in the build. I'm used to seeing unreliable hardware cause sig 11's like this. But this has been a sig 4 each time. Can someone interpret this for me? I have just taken the bold step towards installing FreeBSD on my machine. I have 1.7GHZ Pentium with 512 MB RAM, NVidia TNT2. I did a default install with no kernel customisation etc. Now I am trying to connect to Internet. Since it is still time for me to growup to console mode connecting, I start KDE and use KPPP to connect to the internet. BUT. PPP dies unexpectedly as soon as I type in a URL in say Konqueror. Sometimes it dies in a second of connecting. It exists with error code 1. Then after some thought, I finally made /etc/resolv.conf since it used to give me this warning when I stat kppp. This file is currently empty. Now PPP seems to connect but still it is not confirmed but it did not exit after I created this file. BUT when I type in any url in browser, it simplly say Host not found etc. Why? Also how do I enable Get DNS Server Automatically as in Windows. Please help me I am really stuck. Awaiting your replies, Jiger Are you running KDE as root?
