Probably you have your cd-rom drive plugged into your soundcard, which means that its bypassing your operating system and sending the output directly through the sound card. try running '#esd -trust -unix' and see if your speakers are outputting sound. maybe its a problem with the output plugin (

I think the reason was on the gaim website, or somewhere. Yahoo has just recently made a minor adjustment to their protocol which was causing the error in gaim. I dont think it has been 100% fixed yet, and until then, i went ahead and installed ymessenger from http://messenger.yahoo.com . there

You can put a larger hard drive into the machine, as long as you make the root/boot partition under the first two gigs. although your bios doesn't support large hard-drives, freebsd does. as far as i can tell, freebsd just doesnt get the hard drive info from teh bios. i had a 40 gig hard drive
