Re: 5Dwm

2003-10-22 Thread Tak Pui LOU
I won't have the time to commit myself besides that it seems to require
some lower level programming skill for some parts. I definitely hope
someone do it right.

Anyway, I saw some discussion about bring the workspace manager back in
the future openmotif release. That may solve my problem too.

2003-10-22 Thread Tak Pui LOU
Hello,

Is there anyone planning to port 5Dwm from the IMD4Linux Project? I don't
need the whole IMD environment although it is nice to have it. I just want
a mwm with multiple workspace manager.

Thanks for telling me that. I was too busy so I try to look up the reason.

I don't want to use applications that depend on so many packages. So, I
guess I will install aMSN 0.83.

need help with gmake

2003-09-03 Thread Tak Pui LOU
Hi,

I am compiling a program with 4 static libraries. If I compile the program
by using gmake with its Makefile, an excutable is made without any errors.
However, the excutable exited on signal 6 when I ran it. If I compile the
program by running the compilers (f95 and cc) by hand, the excutable
created works without abort signal. Does anyone know what is wrong with
the Makefile?

Thanks,
---
Lou

P.S. I created the static libraries with "ar rvs ..." as specified in the
Makefile.

GBDE on md0 fails (was Re: How to encrypt data on backup?)

2003-07-03 Thread Tak Pui LOU
The machine with the tape drive has no OS installed on it yet. Anyway, I
tried it with vnode. "dump" runs without any problem. But, "restore"
stops after a few minutes. I did the following:

% mdconfig -a -t vnode -f img0 -u md0
% gbde init /dev/md0 -i -L lock
I change the sector size to 2048.
% gbde attach md0 -l lock
% dump -0aLu -b 2 -f /dev/md0.bde /home
% mdconfig -a -t vnode -f img1 -u md1
% newfs /dev/md1
% mount /dev/md1 /mnt
% cd /mnt
% restore -r -f /dev/md0.bde
...
The program stops and stay as a runaway process. Can't interrupt, quit,
kill, etc. When I reboot the machine, it still won't stop. I have to push
the reset button.

Is there any way to encrypt the backup created by dump while it is

send out any mail too. I only saw the sendmail queue run as smmsp.

After reboot, I got the above sendmail processes. Was my system hacked by

Re: CODA 5.3.20 compilation under FreeBSD 5 (stat structure problem)

2003-03-05 Thread Tak Pui LOU
Hi Kris,

Do we need to recompile the kernel with "options CODA" and preload the
module by changing /boot/loader.conf in FBSD R5?

BTW, although it is off topics, what is the different between loading
vinum from module than starting it from rc.conf? I was trying to map my
root disk to a vinum subdisk but failed. I don't want to change it now. I
suspect that it would have worked if I loaded the vinum module rather than
started vinum from rc.conf.

CODA 5.3.20 compilation under FreeBSD 5 (stat structure problem)

2003-03-04 Thread Tak Pui LOU
Greetings All,

I am trying to compile CODA 5.3.20 on FreeBSD Release 5. The compilation
stopped when it tries to compile coda-5.3.20/coda-src/venus/vproc.cc in
which VattrToStat (line 787) try to do the following:

sp->st_qspare[0] = 0;
sp->st_qspare[1] = 0;

And, I look into the stat.h in FBSD 5, the struct of stat has changed and
it no longer has st_qspare in it.

What can I do to get around with this?

Thanks,

5.0-Release question

I downloaded a 5.0-Release Disc 1 ISO on Jan 18 Sat at 2:54am. It seems
this file is later replaced by a newer one at 4:55am. My checksum is:

MD5 (5.0-RELEASE-i386-disc1.iso) = b8be37956ebba2c4e58686be8cf9dc09

What is the changed in the new ISO? BTW, if no major changes that may
affect me, I am going to use this ISO. Could anyone tell me the old
checksum?
