doesn't dummynet work with vlan ?

2012-06-07 Thread Yavuz Maşlak
Hello there
I use freebsd8.2
I added dummynet and other followings into the kernel;
options IPFIREWALL #firewall
options IPFIREWALL_VERBOSE #print information about
options IPFIREWALL_FORWARD #enable trasparent proxy support
options IPFIREWALL_DEFAULT_TO_ACCEPT #allow everything by default
options HZ=1000
options DUMMYNET
options IPDIVERT
options DEVICE_POLLING

I have 4 networks which seperate from eachother with vlan.
I wish to bandlimit for every vlan network using dummynet.
I have 2 ethernet cards for that. one of them is wan other one is inbound is
tagged.
vlan works well
I configured a network to limit using dummynet; ipfw.sh
###
ipfw -f flush

ipfw pipe 11 config bw 2Mbit/s # Vlan104
ipfw pipe 12 config bw 2Mbit/s # 6.Port on the switch

ipfw add pipe 11 ip from any to 10.12.4.0/24 in via em0
ipfw add pipe 12 ip from 10.12.4.0/24 to any out xmit em0
###
em0 is for outside in the server.
as a client my pc is in vlan104 namely i am behind the firewall
when i execute the ipfw.sh, I can't reach to the internet.

ipfw add pipe 12 ip from 10.12.4.0/24 to any out xmit em0
above line works it actually limits but ;
ipfw add pipe 11 ip from any to 10.12.4.0/24 in via em0
above line doesn't work properly
it obstructs my http and icmp requests. so i can't reach to internet.

Whereas i remove ipfw add pipe 11 ip from any to 10.12.4.0/24 in via em0
from ipfw.sh
I can either ping at outbound or reach to internet.

I tried vlan104 instead of em0 in via em0
that doesn't help me.

I don't use proxy. I use nat
What can be the problem ?

Thanks

About pipe

2011-10-07 Thread Yavuz Maşlak
I use pipe ( dummynet ) with ipfw for bandwidth on freebsd8

There is a /24 ip blok which is 192.168.1.1 - 254 .

I pipe them at 20 Mbps. There is an special ip ( 192.168.1.100 ) in it.

I would like to allow this ip at 10 Mbps. The 10 mbps is in the 20 mbps.

If the ip doesn't use any usage, I 'd like to be All of 20 mbps can be used
by the other ips ( 192.168.1.0/24 )

How can I do that ?

about incoming and outgoing trafficc

2010-02-24 Thread Yavuz Maşlak

I have 2 lines to reach to the internet.

I use 2 gateway. one of 2 gateway is a freebsd7.2 gateway.

I activated pf on freebsd7.2.

I have a fileserver which has a real ip.
the fileserver's default gateway is other gateway server.
When a traffic comes from internet via freebsd gateway towards the
fileserver, if I try to upload a file which has about 10Mbyte from a remote
pc to the file server, file transfer performance will be very bad. if I try
to download a file from the file server, the file transfer performance will
be very well. it is no problem.
Or if I disable pf, the problem 's gone and upload/download transfer speed
is very well.

Or incoming and outgoing trafficc via my pf server , there is no problem.

How can I correct this problem ?

Cheating OS fingerprinting

2010-02-07 Thread yavuz
Hi all,

I want to cheat os fingerprinting tools ( primary nmap) in my freebsd
machine. Assume I am using freebsd 8 and I want to be seen as a windows xp
machine when someone scans my ports.

In order to determine target host's OS, nmap sends seven TCP/IP crafted
packets (called tests) and waits for the answer. Results are checked against
a database of known results (OS signatures database). If the answer matches
any of the entries in the database, it can guess that the remote OS is the
same that the one in the database. Some Nmap packets are sent to an open
port and the others to a closed port; depending on that results, the remote
OS is guessed. So to cheat nmap, I have to analyze all incomming packets (as
a firewall) and if a test packet coming from a scanner is found I have to
give appropriate reply packet (depending on the os signature I want to use).

IPPersonality http://ippersonality.sourceforge.net/ is an old linux patch
does the same job.

I want to implement a freebsd tool that cheats os fingerprinting. As I said,
I have to analyze all incomming packets as a firewall and do some job if
packets are comming from a scanner. Can I implement this feature as a patch
to PF, or does PF provides some mechanisms to write extension modules? Can
you give any advices? Where is to start:)

best regards...

writing divert sockets

2010-01-25 Thread yavuz
Hi all,

I have a problem while writing divert sockets. I found a simple application
and modified it to compile in freebsd.
Simple divert socket application only prints incomming packet and reinject
packet to IP stack.
My simple application and test codes are available at (
http://forums.freebsd.org/showthread.php?t=10589)

I think I have a problem in reinject part, i.e writing packet back to ip
stack.

I have a server application listening on port 2000 and a client sends packet
to port 2000. And I have a ipfw rule as:

ipfw add 1000 divert 2000 tcp from any to any 2000

In divert socket application a divert socket is created and bind to port
2000. Socket receives packet with no problem:

 n=recvfrom( fd, packet, BUFSIZE, 0, (struct sockaddr_in *) sin, sinlen);

After receiving packet what I want to do is simply reinjecting packet.

n=sendto(fd, packet, n ,0, (struct sockaddr *) sin, sinlen);

Reinjecting packet is not working in my case. I miss some point:) please
help me.

In addition to the problem, I couldn't understand a point in man page of
divert.

The port part of the socket address passed to the sendto(2) contains a tag
that should be meaningful to the diversion module. In the case of
ipfw(8) the tag is interpreted as the rule number after which rule
processing should restart.

If I change the port value of sending address to ipfw rule number, how can
server receive the packet? (Assume the rule number is 1000 and server
listens port 2000. )

Thanks in advance

Re: How can I extract differences between 2 folders ?

2009-05-05 Thread Yavuz Maşlak

First I am sorry writing folders instead of files.
as far as I see diff command compares differences line by line between 2
files

That's to say,
File a
orange
blue
yellow

File b
yellow
blue
orange

diff --suppress-common-lines -w -y a b
orange
blue
  blue
  orange

as above you see, A and B files contains the same strings but their's lines
are different
I wish diff or another command not to display same values which are in
different lines.

First of all I suppose you're talking about 2 files, not folders.
In which case the command you're using isn't looking so bad since it
shows the differences between file a and file b:

 diff --suppress-common-lines -w -y a b
abcde | xyasz

But since you do not seem to be happy with the output - what should it
look like?

There are several differents between these two files.

When I run diff command diff --suppress-common-lines -y -w file1 file2

How can I extract differences between 2 folders ?

Which command do I need to use ?

Hello,

You could use a 'xterm' with UTF-8 support, a correct LANG environment,
for example LANG=es_ES.UTF-8, and the editor 'vim' (from the
ports); to enter UTF-8 chars which are not on your keyboard you could
use, for example, KDE's application KCharSelect

Most people use ifconfig, perhaps indirectly via /etc/rc.conf.

Few choose to go that route, but you can disable ARP and set up /etc/
ethers, or you could even fire up your favorite firewall (IPFW, PF,
whatever), and add allow rules for the permitted MAC addresses, and
 deny all others.

 Hi,
I had same problem while I installed FreeBSD5.4 on my machine.
Ata devices may behave erratically, particularly SATA devices.
Reported symptoms include command timeouts or missing interrupts.

First, Install FreeBSD using safe mode. And than,
Disable ACPI and APIC using the ``safe mode'' of the bootloader.
 hint.acpi.0.disabled=1
 hint.apic.0.disabled=1

If avaible, use the host's BIOS setup optios to put the ATA controller in
 its 'legacy mode'.

I think you are saying that you tried to 'su' from a non root user login.
 Is that true?
If so, the thing to check is if that user is in the 'wheel' group.
Look in the file /etc/group and make sure that user is added
 to the wheel group.

If you have no root access at all, you will need to learn how to
boot to single user and create a root account for yourself or put
a password on the root account.

That (single user booting) is all well layed out in documentation and
in the list archives and in FAQs.

The not running setuid makes me wonder. Have you changed permissions

By setting up the relevant line in your ``/etc/newsyslog.conf'' file:

The format of this file is described in the manpage:

 % man newsyslog.conf

If you do read the manpage and you still have questions, then it's

2004-06-18 Thread Yavuz Malak
Hello
I use freebsd4.9
I have thousands of files in my any directory. and I need to copy them to another
directory.
but when I started to copy them I got error as below;
/bin/cp: Argument list too long.

Do I have to copy them in pieces ?

What shall I do ?

Thanks
