I'm new to FreeBSD and am trying to work on a remote server. I started
out with 5.2, but it was a NIGHTMARE trying to install the combination
of software I want, because certain ports didn't work, certain packages
didn't work, and I had to use older versions than what I wanted

Try this one.
cd /usr/src/usr.sbin/config
make
make install
and try again to build your kernel.

sorry, don't forget to backup your file config.
cp /usr/sbin/config /usr/sbin/config.orig
if you still have problem, send your configuration file
(/sys/i386/config/DUMMYNET ??).

Hello Michael,
Why do you not to try to install all of your software needed with
source. You can configure anything secure with it. And so simple. But,
i don't have any reason to build a proxy server with tiny disk. :)
