Thanks Beech I do not understand how to reach such a conclusion but yr help is most appreciated. I tried something which seemed to satisgy pkgdb but will no doubt have negative repercussions later -- I chose krb5-1.5.1_1 as the new dependency -- and had a a report Fixws! No doubt it was the wrongchoice but I now have portupgrade working.. unless I hear anything from you to the contrary when this run is done I will follow your instructions and trust it all works out in the end.. chuckles ps where in alaska are you? I spend quite a few years in the South East ^d deletes the dependency entirely and rebuilding the port in question will (hopefully) re establish the proper one. I've used this when it was not desirable to pkg_delete and rebuild the port. You might also take a look at the -O option. See man(1) portupgrade. I'm in Anchorage. Beech -- --- Beech Rintoul - Sys.
