Gnome problems

2005-08-25 Thread blOrf

Hi,

I had the same problem while installing amarok music player, and
commented out line 24 of
/usr/ports/audio/gstreamer-plugins-vorbis/work/gst-plugins-0.8.8/gst-libs/gst/audio/multichannel.h.

After that, the compile completed

I tried to upgrade gnome with the script provided on the website but it
failed. It quits when it tries to install OpenOffice. Now my Xfce is a
total mess and I have to install all my Gnome apps manually, but it looks
like the libraries I was looking for are installed again.

Gnome problems

2005-07-02 Thread Marco Beishuizen

Hi,

Since I installed a new version of "pango" none of the gnome applications
work anymore:

...
[EMAIL PROTECTED]>$ gnumeric
/libexec/ld-elf.so.1: Shared object "libpangoft2-1.0.so.600" not found,
required by "gnumeric"

you have mail
[EMAIL PROTECTED]>$ jpilot
/libexec/ld-elf.so.1: Shared object "libpangoxft-1.0.so.600" not found,
required by "jpilot"

...

When I try to install a new version of gnome in order to install all
libraries used by those programs, it crashes with:

...
BITS=64 -I/usr/local/include/glib-2.0 -I/usr/local/lib/glib-2.0/include
-I/usr/local/include/libxml2 -I/usr/local/include
-I/usr/X11R6/include/gstreamer-0.8 -DGST_DISABLE_DEPRECATED -Wall -O -pipe
-I/usr/local/include -MT libgstdtsdec_la-gstdtsdec.lo -MD -MP -MF
.deps/libgstdtsdec_la-gstdtsdec.Tpo -c gstdtsdec.c -fPIC -DPIC -o
.libs/libgstdtsdec_la-gstdtsdec.o

In file included from gstdtsdec.c:29:
../../gst-libs/gst/audio/multichannel.h:24:46:
gst/audio/multichannel-enumtypes.h: No such file or directory

gmake: *** [libgstdtsdec_la-gstdtsdec.lo] Error 1
*** Error code 2

Stop in /usr/ports/multimedia/gstreamer-plugins-dts.
*** Error code 1
...

Now I don't know how I can make those gnome programs work again.
I'm running Xfce on FreeBSD 5.3-REL.

Thanks in advance.

Hi!

Just copy your .xsession file for root into the home folder of the user
you want to use Gnome for or use gdm. Having said that there is a lot of
information regarding updating Gnome which you can find at
http://www.freebsd.org/gnome/. It would be wise of you to check the
FAQ's at this site for important information.

The Gnome mailing list is [EMAIL PROTECTED] where all questions
regarding Gnome on FreeBSD should be posted.

Cheers,

Have you tried adding an entry to /etc/hosts for your hostname? If you
don't have a static IP address, something like:

127.0.0.1 localhost.mydomain.com localhost myhostname
myhostname.mydomain.com

Will do.

I'm not sure what you mean regarding the icons. Can you send a
screenshot? Also, have you updated to the latest version of GNOME?

gnome problems

2003-04-04 Thread climbzen
hey there,
just installed freebsd for the first time, when i try to use gnome i
get several errors while it loads, the first one says " could not look
up internet address for . this will prevent GNOME from operating
correctly. it may be possible to correct the problem by adding to the
file /etc/host." and it give me options to try again or continue. if i do
try again i get the same window, if i hit continue ti continues to load
gnome, then i get a error that says " application "deskguide_applet"
(process 1142) has crashed due to fatal error. (secmentation fault)"
it also has a link for the gnome application crash page but i doesn't
do anything (this box is not online yet) and the only option i have is
to close the window. then i get the same error for
"tasklist_applet"(process 1099) and for "panel" process 1023). then
if looks to load the gnome desktop fine other then all my icons are
all fuzzy and crappy looking. then if i try and run anything things
really get weird with those same errors popping up over and over.
any ideas on what i did wrong this is my second install and got the
same thing both times.
