usb audio problem

2012-04-30 Thread Jong-Beom Kim
I use HRT music streamer, which uses uaudio driver. But in mplayer when I
play a movie, it sounds normal for some time and then suddenly plays no
sound at all. it is not muted and mplayer recognizes that it works
correctly. Only after reboot ,it sounds again, but as above it dies after
some time when playing movie. In linux there was no problem, so it cannot
be the problem of HRT music streamer.

any ideas?

snd_uaudio.ko (USB audio driver) doesn't work on FreeBSD 8.0-BETA2 amd64

2009-08-02 Thread Peter Ulrich Kruppa
Hi,

since I upgraded to FreeBSD 8.0-BETA2 amd64 my sound device doesn't work
anymore.
In my /boot/loader.conf I have got
snd_uaudio_load="YES"

# kldstat shows
Id Refs AddressSize Name
1 35 0x8010 ce46e0 kernel
21 0x80de5000 13dc0snd_uaudio.ko

# cat /dev/sndstat

Installed devices:
pcm0: at ? kld snd_uaudio [MPSAFE] (1p:1v/1r:1v
channels duplex default)

A device /dev/dsp0.1 exists.

What's going on there?

Thanks for your replies and hints

Uli.

USB audio CDs?

2008-07-21 Thread Omar Siddique
I have a USB DVD-RW drive that I'd like to use to rip music under
6.3-RELEASE, but I don't have a /dev/acd0 (and can't get "grip" to work
from /dev/cd0). /dev/cd0 shows up fine, but audio CDs log errors and
"grip" (from ports) can't do much with /dev/cd0. grip is able to see the
disc table of contents for the CD, but attempting to rip only generates
errors:

006: Could not read any data from drive
(repeats per track)

Repeatable for different CDs. I was able to mount a cd9660 disc from this
drive without a problem.

I've previously done this (using grip) with ATA/SATA optical drives of
various sorts, as well as used various USB mass-storage devices without
any problems, but this is my first shot under *BSD at getting audio off a
USB optical drive.

I read through the USB related man pages, FB handbook, and googled without
finding any answers... Would appreciate any advice!

I have all of these in my running kernel:

RELENG_6 + usb audio ?

2007-06-27 Thread Robin P. Blanchard

I've been running a local NPR affiliates streaming server (darkice + lame +
shoutcast) on RELENG_5 for quite some time on an older dell PE server (with
an AudioPCI ES1370) . They've purchased a new dell PE; but it only has pci-e
slots in it (and none currently available). So...I'm thinking USB audio.
Would this be stable under RELENG_6 ? I'm considering having them purchase an
external (USB) Creative External Sound Blaster Live! SB0490. Thoughts ?

snd_uaudio compatibility and multiple USB audio

2006-06-01 Thread Wojciech Puchar
question 1: does snd_uaudio works with all "USB sound card" on market? if
not - what is supported and how to check when buying? FreeBSD webpage isn't much
talkative about this :(

question 2: will multiple uaudio devices work without problems in
parallel? if yes - can kernel be configured the way device names numbering
will be predictable every time system is booted?

Fwd: Adjusting volume with GUI app for USB audio?

2006-01-11 Thread Jesse Sheidlower

(Forwarded from freebsd-multimedia, where no one replied. Is
that list meant only for hard-core development work, or am I
asking badly? I can provide any system details necessary.)

- Forwarded message from Jesse Sheidlower <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> -

After assorted work, I've gotten USB audio to work on my
computers (FreeBSD 6.0 and 5.4); I select the USB speakers
with "sysctl hw.snd.unit="1"" to get the pcm1 device.

I find that _some_ graphical volume-control utilities don't
work with the USB speakers. These include the GNOME
volume-control applet, the volume slider in xmms, and the
GNOME volume control application (not the applet). However,
some _do_ work, including the volume control in gmplayer and
the volume control in Rhythmbox. Furthermore, the commandline
mixer(8) works fine--with the speakers plugged in and
selected, "mixer" reports on bass, treble, and speaker volume,
and I can adjust the volume with "mixer speaker 60" or
whatever.

However (again), adjusting the output source in those apps that
allow it has no effect--in the GNOME volume-control applet, for
example, I only have the device choice of "OSS Mixer", and
whether I select "Volume", "PCM", "Speaker", or anything else,
this just won't control the speaker volume.

Any suggestions? It's not the end of the world to use mixer(8)
but it's often inconvenient.

Thanks.

Jesse Sheidlower

USB audio in 4.11?

2005-11-26 Thread Jesse Sheidlower

I'm running FreeBSD 4.11 on a laptop, and am interested in
plugging in USB speakers. Is this possible, and if so, what
do I have to do? There wasn't anything in the Handbook,
and most things I saw from searching the lists had to do
with recording audio to a USB device.

Thanks.

USB Audio/Mixer problem

2004-09-16 Thread Bryan Liesner
I recently purchased a Creative Labs Sound Blaster MP3+ which seems to
work OK under FreeBSD 5.3-BETA. A couple of exceptions, though. It
only seems to understand 48KHz and have to convert 44.1KHz -> 48KHz or
else the device locks up. I can live with this. My concern is that
when booting verbose or with USB_DEBUG set, when the device attaches,
it declares that there are 12 mixer devices. So when I type in mixer
at the command line, I would expect to see volume, pcm, linein, etc...

But, here's the output of mixer:
Recording source: mic
Mixer pcm is currently set to 12:12
That's it. Any ideas to help me get some useful mixer settings?
Thanks!

BTW, If someone is adventurous, a few years of development of the NetBSD
driver need to be merge in.

usb audio (uaudio) driver problems

2003-10-02 Thread douglas savitsky
[this was posted to c.u.b.f.m but received no responses]

Hi, I am trying to get a usb sound card (xitel) to work. I have had some
success, but also some problems, and i thought someone might be able to
offer solutions. I am using freebsd 4.8 on 2 different computers.

On one computer (a dell v350 desktop where the sound was already working)
i
plugged the sound card into the usb slot, and it just worked. on the one
hand, this is great, but on the other it makes it mysterious to me how it
worked. Further, if i start kde w/ the card plugged in, half way through
startup the computer reboots -- afaik, there are no messages or anything,
simply a reboot.

On a second computer (a toshiba 2515cds laptop) which is the one i
actually
need it to work on, after building sound into the kernel, the card causes
mpg123 to freeze. ctrl-c does not work, and the only way to do anything
is
to press the power button.

grep pcm /var/run/dmesg.boot

gives a the long message below ...

pcm0: on uaudio0
pcm0: at port 0x220-0x22f, 0x530-0x537, 0x388-0x38f,
0x330-0x331, 0x370-0x371, irq 5 drq 1,0 on isa0
pcm0: [repeat of USB line]
pcm1: [repeat of Yamaha line]
pcm0: [repeat of USB line]
pcm1: [repeat of Yamaha line]

So, it seems that there are drivers, but something is amiss in the
configuration. also, rebooting and freezing are very un-freebsd things,
so
i am a little worried.

Any ideas?
