Don't know if it really shuts down the power to sdcard, but LED goes off, and I think this is anyway safer. So on those systems camcontrol worked trough USB stack. > On Tue, 24 Sep 2013 00:26:01 +0400 > Anatoly wrote: > > > By the way, what exactly goes wrong with camcontrol? > > I answered that question once already but forgot to Cc the list. > > > I gave that a whirl but it didn't work. It is something like: usbconfig -d 0.2 suspend you can read man usbconfig about it. On 7.x this may be done with upower utility that someone has posted on this mailing list before (you may search list for it) upower /dev/usb0 2 suspend I investigated this because one day I've got new 32G pendrive with ram cache on it. spin down a USB-attached disk?
I have a possibly dumb question. Is it possible to send a spindown command through USB to a SATA disk attached as umass? I like to spin down my disks before turning them off and with an ad-disk it's quite simple using camcontrol. I haven't been able figure how to do it through USB. -- Gary Jennejohn ___ freebsd-usb@freebsd.org mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-usb To unsubscribe, send any mail to "freebsd-usb-unsubscr...@freebsd.org"
