First, what's the exact svn revision ?
Second, with the same gtk+ version (though on x86) it works fine here.
Might be a theming issue.

This variable is set in DISEMBLE_RGBA but not used in
ALPHA_BLEND; is a reduced version of DISEMBLE_RGBA really
needed?
That didn't look too bad option to me. It's not like we need to duplicate the
code, but the full RGBA version can use RGB
