Follow-up Comment #1, patch #2697 (project freeciv): I asked about toplevel - top level from my wife who has studied English. From the long explanation I got, I understood that toplevel is never correct, but when used adjectively just before the word it defines, correct would be top-level. I'm not committing this patch just yet until someone confirms if top level is correct, or should it be top-level as I now think. ___ Reply to this item at: http://gna.org/patch/?2697 ___ Message sent via/by Gna! http://gna.org/ ___ Freeciv-dev mailing list Freeciv-dev@gna.org https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/freeciv-dev

Follow-up Comment #2, patch #2698 (project freeciv): - Now that generic client name civclient is replaced with freeciv-gtk2 I'd like to have possibility to use other clients before first occurrence of word freeciv-gtk2. Now you mention it only later. - In one example civclient is substituted with freeciv instead of freeciv-gtk2 ___ Reply to this item at: http://gna.org/patch/?2698 ___ Message sent via/by Gna! http://gna.org/ ___ Freeciv-dev mailing list Freeciv-dev@gna.org https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/freeciv-dev

Follow-up Comment #3, patch #2554 (project freeciv): Well, finishing of default ai code refactoring is still week or two away since I were absent for a while. I'm not only posting to repeat over and over that we are still a week away from completion. Progress has been made, and now all the patches have already been made (they still need fixing, but at least we have tickets to follow now). [Freeciv-Dev] Fwd: freeciv.net merge: metaserver
-- Forwarded message -- From: Vijay Kiran Kamuju infyqu...@gmail.com Date: Thu, Jun 9, 2011 at 11:07 PM Subject: Re: [Freeciv-Dev] freeciv.net merge: metaserver To: Andreas Røsdal andre...@pvv.ntnu.no On Thu, Jun 9, 2011 at 9:01 PM, Andreas Røsdal andre...@pvv.ntnu.no wrote: On Thu, 9 Jun 2011, Marko Lindqvist wrote: I had a moment to browse freeciv.net sources again to plan how to proceed in our gradual merge (currently just unifying codebase; minimizing diff between the two systems) I noticed that your tree has copy of metaserver also. I've been doing commit or two per year to metaserver code. I hope you are aware of what has been happening there also. Yes, I'm aware of that. The slight problem I noticed is in how you deploy metaserver. You have renamed settings.php as settings.php.dist and your main README installation instructions say that one should modify that file directly and then rename it back to settings.php. I don't think you have any good reason to do it that way instead of doing it correctly. settings.php has just defaults that are used if user provided configuration file local.php does not provide particular value. So your installation instructions ask to change these *defaults* and not to actually configure the metaserver. Well, as long as you provide no custom configuration for metaserver, (modified) defaults are used, but that's definitely not supported way to do it. Well, the problem is that I don't want the real username and password committed to the source code repository. I didn't know about local.php. I also have the same problem with resin-web.xml, where I don't want the password committed to git. The script freeciv.net-bootstrap.sh takes care of updating the passwords and renaming files. It's better to have a template file checked in, and have the script to be run during installation. eg: resin-web.xml.template or resin-web.xml.txt where the host, user name and password details will be null or have a default value. Have you done any changes to metaserver so that metaservers of these two projects would also need merging? Yes, the metaserver of Freeciv.net is slightly modified, with a different look and with some buttons to join and observe games: http://games.freeciv.net/freecivmetaserve/metaserver.php - Andreas -- Vijay ___ Freeciv-dev mailing list Freeciv-dev@gna.org https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/freeciv-dev

Follow-up Comment #3, patch #2698 (project freeciv): My previous patch was solely word substitutions in the old document. This replacement patch adds a new section [Freeciv is modular] with a brief introduction to the various clients. I deliberately left out mention of deprecated clients, but have included newer/experimental versions. There wasn't even a mention of SDL, while it was stated that clients need X11. Hopefully we can keep this section somewhat up to date now. Corrected freeciv to freeciv-gtk2 in tileset example. [Freeciv-Dev] [bug #18194] Client has out-of-date info about units transferred when city lost
Follow-up Comment #4, bug #18194 (project freeciv): Server may send unit removal packets, but client cannot handle them correctly (at that point any more). A -d 3 log on the server indicates that it's not sending them. A PACKET_UNIT_INFO for the change in ownership goes to the observer, but jtn never receives anything more about that unit: 3: [T330 - 2011/06/10 01:18:42] in transfer_unit() [citytools.c::589]: Transferred Alpine Troops in Siem Pang from Canadian to Iroquois 3: [T330 - 2011/06/10 01:18:42] in send_packet_unit_info_100() [packets_gen.c::13287]: packet_unit_info_100: sending info about (1737) 3: [T330 - 2011/06/10 01:18:42] in send_packet_unit_info_100() [packets_gen.c::13591]: field 'owner' has changed 3: [T330 - 2011/06/10 01:18:42] in send_packet_unit_info_100() [packets_gen.c::13599]: field 'homecity' has changed 3: [T330 - 2011/06/10 01:18:42] in send_packet_data() [packets.c::190]: sending packet type=PACKET_UNIT_INFO(63) len=13 to observer For a unit in Toronto (Armor), jtn eventually gets a UNIT_SHORT_INFO.
