Response to comment #5:

Clicking "New Issue" at http://code.google.com/p/freeciv-forever/issues/list
takes me to a Google Project Hosting log-in page.

However I am not a developer in the Freeciv team and so I have no ID and now
password for that account.

Follow-up Comment #5, bug #18055 (project freeciv):

Thanks for the bugreport to Freeciv.net. The web client doesn't support
rivers, yet. Rendering rivers has not been prioritized yet.

Bugreports to Freeciv.net can be made to

Last time I spoke with him (earlier this year), he stated that there was no
separate tracker for freeciv.net.

It's confusing, but freeciv.net playable in web browser is not really
freeciv. It's fork of freeciv. I don't know if Andreas (maintainer of
freeciv.net) has separate bugtracker for it.

Follow-up Comment #2, bug #18055 (project freeciv):

Response to Angelo Locritani:

I do not know what is gtk2-client (I am not a developer of the game
software).

In case it is relevant, I access the game from Windows 7 PC over the
Internet.

If it is possible to use the same gtk2-client that you use from Windows 7,
can you please direct me to some instructions on how to do it?

When I access the game, there is no "View" menu and no mini-map in top left.
There is something that may be called a mini-map at the bottom left, but I was
not referring to it.

In the big map that I see, and where the terrain is shown, there is
absolutely no visual difference between tiles of any terrain with or without
rivers.
The only way to tell there is a river is by trying to build a road there or
from stats of battles.

I access the game at web site "http://www.freeciv.net/";, click on the big
square colored picture there, and click there "Load game". The saved games
were originally started by clicking "Start single-player game".

The option to save games appeared about a week ago and at the same time
scenario games became inaccessible: If I click "Start scenario game" it takes
me to an error page "500 Servlet Exception".

Follow-up Comment #1, bug #18055 (project freeciv):

According to my experience, all tilesets display the river in some way,
usually with blue winding lines over the tile.
Are you sure you haven't disabled the river display in (I think) "view"
menu?

If you are talking instead of the minimap (top left), there I think rivers
are not displayed at all.

I'm talking about gtk2-client.

Details:

The map does not seem to indicate which squares have rivers in them, whereas
the presence of rivers is an important factor in battles as well as in road
building.

As it is now, it can only be discovered empirically whether a square has a
river in it.
