Hi,
i've used word 6.0 for dos on freedos on 16 and 32 FAT , but with jemm and
himem without problem .

Thanks - I think the boot loader has a startup mode without EMM386; I'll
give that a try.

Haven't swapped shells yet, but I'll give that a try. I was going to switch
over to 4DOS anyway - I actually bought that program way back and always
thought it a great set of tools. Thanks!

Have you tried using a different shell, e.g. 4DOS? This reminds me of some
problems I had with the default command shell a while back. I switched over
to 4DOS and haven't noticed it since.
