Re: [Freedos-user] Fresh ClamAV/DJGPP Port
kinds of archives. Because of my lack of internet connectivity, freshclam is untested and I would appreciate testers. If anyone has internet working with FreeDOS, simply use fdpkg to install clamavx.zip and run freshclam. It should automatically find its configuration file and download the latest database. I installed successfully clamav (I used the package of Mateusz Viste) I've got an internet connection working on my dos freedos box. I tried to use freshcla.exe but it fires up an error : Can't parse the config file /dev/env/DOSDIR/bin/clamd.conf I ran the command in c:\fdos\bin\ Another strange thing is that sometimes it can't load the the dictionary, sometimes it can. Check this screenshot (500Ko - sorry) http://www.amigrave.com/upload/posts/freedos/clamscan.jpg Also, I would like some input. Should a recent virus database be included in the package, or should this be left to the user to download? It think that a virus database should be available, either in the program package or better in a seperate package. But I think a lot of people who don't have an internet connection available freedos will be happy to have a database available. And those persons using freedos in order to run their old programs/games/demos don't really care about last viruses, they just want to check their files for eventual old viruses. Now if they download warez on the net, that's another story. -- Fabien Meghazi Website: http://www.amigrave.com Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] IM: [EMAIL PROTECTED] - This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges. Re: [Freedos-user] FreeDOS 1.0 (was Network sharing)
Or maybe to install a Linux as second operating system... ;-) Would have taken less than the 2 days to install your Ultimate... Eric, I hate to have to use windows but 99.9 % of the folks and all of Regions Bank use Windows so I have to stay compatible althou I would love to be able to use DOS for myself just to play. That's one reason I would have loved to have been able to access the hard drives with FreeDos since I have a D drive I could really used but it is formatted using the new file system so why I would really wish someone would fix or add the new file system to freedos. But it is interesting that any Vista internally is Ultimate, just with some features blocked depending on which Vista you bought. No not blocked. When you buy windows Vista you get an upgrade cd and on this CD are all the different versions of Vista. Basic, business, premium, Ultimate. You buy your key and with this key and the CD you can install which ever version you want from that CD. They are all on that one CD. I guess they could be blocked and just parts load but who know only Microsoft and they aren't talking other than telling me I had the CD to install Ultimate and if they sent another one it would be that CD. As a matter of fact I have 3 of those CD's one just wasn't enough.BG Ron Spruell Sr. - This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges. Re: [Freedos-user] ClamAV CTorrent
Your packages aren't really FreeDOS compliant, as they haven't /appinfo and /packages directories... Nice work anyway ;-) /packages isn't necessary because fdpkg IIRC will create the directory anyway. Having the directory in the package is only needed if some post-install or pre-remove commands are necessary. Remember that I created it :-). Also note that many packages in 1.0 did not have an appinfo directory, simply because no lsms already existed. I added these lacking directory (as well as an LSM file for each package), and uploaded them to my FreeDOS Update server.
