Re: [Freedos-user] Running FreeDOS on a HP Model nx7400 Vista Business.
I have heard of DosBox, but I understand it is not free. I could purchase multiple copies for distribution with my software. The cost is no problem, but I prefer to make things simple, if possible. I haven’t tried it yet. If you mean the DosBox of http://dosbox.sf.net/, it is free under the GPL version 2. Just remember that if you do use it, you have to distribute the source as per the license terms. -- Jack - This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take control of your XML. Re: [Freedos-user] unsubscribe me
Guys, look at this link that sits at the bottom of every email that comes from the list: https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/freedos-user On that page, there is the following: **To unsubscribe from Freedos-user**, get a password reminder, or change your subscription options enter your subscription email address: (emphasis mine) -- Jack Robson Souza wrote: Yes, please, unsubscribe me of freedos-user@lists.sourceforge.net mailto:freedos-user@lists.sourceforge.net. Re: [Freedos-user] networking problem
For DOS networking stuff, I usually use Bart's Network Boot Disk: http://nu2.nu/bootdisk/network/ It connects to SMB shares, too. It's possible to use bits of it to setup networking on a HD install of DOS, too. I haven't done it for a few years so I can't be more specific, I'm afraid. -- Jack Alain M. wrote: There is a tutorial *somewhere* about how to install a new driver in the ms-client floppy so that instalation can be automatic!!! Re: [Freedos-user] On to FreeDOS 2.0...
Nick Warren wrote: You know what would be really awesome in FreeDOS? multitasking. There are no open source multitaskers for DOS. They used to have some programs that did that a long time ago, but they were all proprietary. When I say multitasking, I don't mean task switching like in MS DOSShell. Can this be done? If we're putting together a wishlist, I'd say a packet driver that works with PXE-booted machines so you avoid having to use the (huge - in low memory terms) MS network client to load some UNDI NDIS driver like 3Com's undis3c.dos and a NDIS-packet driver shim. This thought has been around for a while: http://wiki.fdos.org/Blog/Bernd and there's a commercial solution, emboot: http://www.emboot.com/ But as always, an open alternative is nicer. - This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take control of your XML.
