heh, for a fairly nice freedos web browser, did ya try Arachne?

Yes, I have. It is Internet centric and made for a time
when the Net was nowhere near as complex as it is now.
Dillo has more capabilities and is not Net centric.

I don't like pop3, I've been using my own imap server
for a long time.

Arachne does not work correctly with Webmail IMP on the
horde framework (release 3.1.3). Dillo halfway works
with Horde as a lightweight firefox alternative.

It probably needs X because it is gtk based, but there
is a Windows version and ReactOS is coming along.

I like the idea of Dillo on FreeDOS - it would be nie to have a web
browser for FreeDOS that supports modern XHTML. Arachne does a nice
job, but doesn't support everything I need.

You're right, the Dillo developers do suggest they are moving away
from GTK+ to FLTK http://www.fltk.org/. I don't know if FLTK will
work on DOS - haven't looked at it. However, the Dillo project has
been frozen since February this year, waiting on funds or sponsorship.
So they haven't finished the port to FLTK yet, but it's mostly done
for the Highest and High priority items, but unfinished for lower
 priority stuff.

I think it would be a good idea for someone to try to compile the
current CVS source using djgpp, and see what compile errors come out.

I have the source for 0.8.6 on my Freedos 1 box and notice it is set up
for GNU autoconf.

 Hi guys,

dillo does use gtk, so we would need x for dos(afaik it does exist) but also

 is it?

How about bringing the Dillo web browser to freedos?
