Jim, Yeah, I use the default string, too. I'm guessing this is probably an issue with VirtualBox. Or maybe it's just Linux's audio stack. Anyway, I'll give QEMU a try. And thanks for this project, BTW. I've spent the last couple days resurrecting a big stack of my old 3.5" floppy-disk DOS games and really using DOS for the first time in 25 years or so... I haven't forgotten as much as I thought I did. :) Anyway, FreeDOS in a VM is so much nicer than DosBox... I tend to think that their focus lies elsewhere, but maybe you'll get lucky. I had spotty luck with Doom and others (a year or so back), but I'm not much of a gamer anymore anyways. I use QEMU, but emulating SoundBlaster16, same as you describe. Sounds works fine here. Check your values.
