He wants to run an old dbase II application under XP using freedos since it apparently does not work under XP and he would rather not dual boot XP and FreeDOS. The suggestion was for him to use BOCS or some other PC simulator to run it inside XP so he could use his legacy Application under this OS. This is if my memory of this thread is correct. I don't understand why you want to run FreeDOS programs under WinXP. No one expect FreeDOS programs can run under WinXP because it's totally different OS, the structure and the API totally different. WinXP's console is a "DOS" look alike command line but using it's own interpretation, it can handle some of the DOS program but not all, and no promise from M$. I don't think you want to run FDISK or LBACACHE under WinXP, or you really trying this? And your complain is too brief, can you please describe in more detail? Thanks. What a waste of all your efforts! You _may_ run under XP _any_ DOS _program_ (including writing specially for FreeDOS), you can't run under XP FreeDOS itself (also as any other OS: DR-DOS, Linux, Mac OS, etc). More specifically, you will need to run FreeDOS within Windows using a PC emulator, such as VirtualPC. Since Windows is itself an operating system, you can't run another OS "on top of" Windows unless it runs in a "virtual box" such as an emulator. -jh -- _ This email message has been automatically encrypted using ROT-26. --- This SF.Net email sponsored by Black Hat Briefings & Training.
