Because FreeBSD doesn't support shadow passwords, if I remember the code correctly, you have to comment out passwd= and shadow= to get system password file authentication that uses master.passwd. Which is how the server comes configured by default. There are also comments in radiusd.conf

hey folks i'm new here - huge smile to all out there :) i've installed version 0.93 and i cant do the test. i'm testing via ntradping utility. i suspect that something is wrong the user authentication for the root account. i'm doing all by o'reilly's radius book, though it might be old

please advise i've started in debugging mode on 1645...i've followed the output from freeradius...it tells me basically wrong password...which is not the case...the output: rad_recv: Access-Request packet from host 212.110.95.145:1077, id=5, length=44 User-Name = root
