prefix or suffix are handled properly. However, when I use them it
just ignores those entries in the users file and goes to the last

How did you build it/configure syslog support for Freeradius? What

You should set the checkrad into debug mode and look into the log file
about what its returning to radius.
From what I know of the working of freeradius, what you say is
impossible. Because if radius thinks that a user is online, then it
checks this with the access server and asks whats going

Hi
I'm getting a lot of authentication errors from users trying to authenticate
with CHAP:
rlm_chap: Clear text password not available
I am not using the users file as user information is pulled from an SQL
database.
Any advice?

As Alan said, configure and use checkrad to verify if users are still
active.
My reading of the docs/googling on checkrad indicates I just add this line
to radius.conf:

It depends if you are using p5-Net-Telnet or net-snmp software (by the

This
well you should configure clients.conf and naspasswd files also.

I seem to remember some problems with gcc on some of Red Hat 7 versions.
You should try updating.
There is another compiler in RH got compiling the kernel, but I cannot
remember the name of it. You might check the Red Hat site for more info.
